You have to wrap your hands around this guitar to appreciate it fully! In a few short months it will be 40 years old, but I'm telling you that no one could ever tell that by its condition. Everything about it is just plain pretty! I've only found two minor flaws: a very minor ding on the soundboard that I thought was part of the wood grain at first; and a minor scratch on the side of the fret-board right at the nut. (See Picture below.) Beyond that, the condition of the finish is astonishing for its age. It's absolutely beautiful, and the silking in the top is downright gorgeous.

Playability-wise, the action is great and the neck is nice and straight. The heel and the bridge are both secure. It has a newer saddle of some sort that looks suspiciously plastic, but that is easily rectified if you want to down the road. The neck is 1 7/8" so it is as comfortable to fret as any Country artist.

The only real sign of age is on the back where the old stick-on, non-skid pad has either shrunk a bit or moved to show an adhesive residue. (Again, see picture.) It has no bearing whatsoever on the quality of this guitar.

Other specs include an ebony fretboard, walnut bridge, an artist bowl (similar to the mid-depth), a seriously nice-looking solid spruce top and ivoroid binding.

It has a surprisingly balanced tone and is not lacking in volume or sustain.

It comes with its hardshell case which is spotless inside, though it shows some wear on the outside. All buckles and hinges work fine, and the case has a long life ahead of it.

Ovation has not produced this model in decades. You don't hear much about them, especially since they aren't even on the Ovation website. So here is your chance to own a well-aged, comparatively rare Ovation that can quickly become a conversation piece as much as an instruemnt. I'd like to get $550 shipped/insured in the continental US. If you are overseas, send me a PM and I'll get you a price quote for shipping.

This beautiful instrument has new strings and is ready to play! Thanks for looking everyone. Ask any questions you may have.

Thanks for asking.

It's 25 1/4", and while I'm at it, it's 12 frets to the body. A really comfy guitar to play if I do say so myself.

Beautiful! It has that hammered gold, feathering look to the top that is SO gorgeous. I'd bet a penny that it is LOUD and LOVELY. This one should go quickly, Patch. Good luck with the sale. I will baby sit for it if you're feeling crowded by guitars ...

I'll remember that. I looked and looked for a name but came up empty, so I went with one that described what the guitar was. I didn't think to look through old brochures.

Thanks Marenostrum!
