It plays like buttah, looks spectacular, sounds even better than that, and gets great comments. All I can say is thanks again Al! I decided to get a pic of my two Adamii, the OFC slot and Big Blue, my Adamas I 12 string. ![]() I was surprised at the difference in the appearance of the tops. Both are great guitars.

With all due respect to all that own those guitars, I never really liked that blue reverse burst . . . Maybe it all stems from my first impression of an Adamas WAS one of the first Adamas, and (again, "to me") that one on the left is what an "Adamas" is S'POSED t'look like. Oh yeah, . . . what Jeff said. (10K -8)

One of the interesting things about the OFC'er is that the burst is very very subtle and is created by gold sparkle around the outside of the top. In the lights last night, it gave the guitar a very "dusky" look too it. Very dramatic and very unusual compared to the 2 Martins there. Oh yeah.... bite me.

But, of the newer Adamas...Both the Adamas I (1688-8, 12/24/04) and the Adamas II (1685-8, 1993) 12's burst are far more defined and darker than the 1687 Reissue. What I noticed immediately with both 12's is the difference in the neck...1685 is more like the 1687 (6-str), the 1688 is more chunky, about half way from an Adamas 6-str and the Martin 12-str neck.

His reasoning was that if you marry a beautiful woman and she starts getting old, you start holding back on going home...but if you marry an ugly woman...after several drinks she starts looking good"... You need no drinks to appreciate the beauty of these instruments...they're all gorgeous! Blessings...

Anyway, I'm just the opposite of Cliff...the first Adamas I laid eyes on was a -8, so the finish on the OFC looks un-natural to me. Not that it looks bad; quite the contrary. Funny how our initial exposure to something colors (pun unintended) our perceptions. No matter which finish is considered 'normal', that's a great looking pair of guitars, Moody!
