I just purchased a beautiful new amber sunburst Legend (6756LX) 12 String but can't find it on the Ovation web site. It looks like its some kind of LX upgrade for the Legend series. But I don't see the specific model number and I'm trying to figure out what type of woods are used in the neck. The inlay strips look like maple, but I can't tell if the main part of the neck is a very light mahogany. maple with a light cherry stain, or perhaps cherry. I'm also interested in where the OP Pro Series fits in as far as Ovation electronics. Did it precede or succeed the OP 30-40-50 series?

What a guitar. Plays easier than any 12 I've ever had, sounds great unplugged and is incredible plugged into a little Roland Acoustic Chorus AC-60 amp. But I could'nt get any sound out of it through my SWR Strawberry Blonde acoustic amp, even though I can play my old Country Artist though the SWR. Some kind of mismatch on the input signal?

Thanks for any help.

Leo, did you get that at the Canton Guitar Center????? One of those came in new last week(I got the first tuning and playing of it) and it was NOT there tonight...... :D

There is nothing on the Ovation company site about the LX 12-strings yet, they are that new. They were announced at Summer NAMM.

I think the neck is mahogany and maple(someone here may know better and I hope they correct me if so). The OP-Pro was new with the LXs earlier this year.

I think the one you saw last week was already sold and this may have came in today. I stopped in the Canton store on the way to the airport this afternoon. I missed the opportunity to play the nice natural 12 string that was there last week, and regretted it. So when I saw this one, I played it and could'nt let it go. Beautiful light amber sunburst, which allows the spruce top to show through.

One of the reasons I planned on buying a 12-string is because, aside from the CA and Folklores, its the only model with a 1-7/8 neck. I planned on getting a 6774 Folklore, or a 6773 CA, first but have not been able to find either of those models in a store so I could actually play one.

I'm really happy with this guitar because it plays so easily as well as sounding so good. It really adds a lot (more than another CA, or even a Folklore) to what I can do as a guitarist. As my Yugoslavian friend allways says about great guitars, "IT REAL MACHINE MY FRIEND" :)

BTW: Don't forget the Christmas Benefit at Tenny Street this Sunday (3-7pm). If you can make it, come up and introduce yourself when I'm in between hosting duties.

I'm just glad the multi-hole 12 string LXs haven't popped up yet. I need to hear what Alpep has to offer us in T - whatever!

Just a guess, but your problem with the acoustic amp sounds like a mismatch of the impedence, this can cause a loss of various frequencies, or the whole signal. I can't give you a solution off the top of my head but I have seen the same problem with a keyboard. The output was seriously degraded when put through an amp.

I think you are right about the mismatch in impedence. The SWR is an older amp with one, 1/8" phono jack input The Roland has multiple inputs (2 channels, XLR, magenetic, piezo, etc) so it is more sophisticated in a sense. It just seems odd that the pickpup in the O12 would not match what is likely to be a fairly standard input. No problem, however, since the new 12 sounds very good through the Roland. I'm too lazy to get the manuals out and check the specs... and I did'nt get a manual for OP-Pro anyway.

Another question: Never bought a new Ovation before. Is there any registration process I should go through? I did'nt receive any paperwork to send the company.

Leo.

Congratulations, should be a great addition to your arsenal.
The OP-PRO is a great preamp.
Send in your warranty card to register it with Ovation as the original owner.

Congrats again,

Serge

That's a great 12 string. If I didn't have an Adamas I 12, I'd be handing over my plastic right now for one.
