Location: Scotland | Hi I have seen an Ovation on ebay I am interested in, although I would like some expert advice on the guitar, I have a 80's balledeer and a 90's Tak EN-10, but in no way an expert on looking at a guitar by pic to say the condition, would/could someone help me out here...?
Kindest Regards

Others may give some of the quirks of a certain model.
Give it a try! |

| FYI, 500 British pounds converts to $972 in US money; I found (and won) an original mint 1767 on ebay a few months ago for a little over $600...

maybe that helps a little,
there are collectors here, which can help you with the true value of Os of this age. |

Location: Scotland | Steve you think this starting bid of 500 GBP is a little much then ? I was / am actually wanting a 90's Legend or custom with no cut-away in nat color, I may wait a while until it turns up from somewhere...
Thanks chaps

Location: Scotland | Steve, price is OK for this guitar in the UK, dealers generally charge more. Some idiot on the South Coast is advertising a 12-Fret GC 12 string at around £1800!!!!!!!!!! £500 is a realistic figure as a final auction value on ebay in the UK but it's way too high for a starting bid so it'll go nowhere. Similar guitars are available in the US at anywhere between $3-700. Given the current strength of the £ against the $ you could find a deep-bowl non-cut Custom Legend in the USA for around £5-600 even after VAT, shipping and import duty. If you want to import something yourself make sure you deal with someone trustworthy. Ebay is not the best place unless you are absolutely certain of what you are doing and are prepared to accept the risks involved in buying from a total stranger half-way across the world.
As for someone who is trustworthy, Al Pepiak has a considerable Ovation inventory & can probably hook up with a guitar that suits your needs. |

| Hey Paul and Stephan, Perhaps the "pound versus the dollar" logic makes a little more sense, but if I had $972 to spend on a quality O', I would be more likely to shop at lostart/vintage...
