I started working with a teenage praise band at church a few weeks ago. Last night, they sounded especially bad and I asked the two guitarists if they had tuned up before practice. Both informed me that they couldn't possibly be out of tune since they had tuned their guitars the week before at practice. WOW. I then asked the accoustic player if she had changed strings lately and found out that she has had the guitar for 2 or 3 years with the original strings still attached. Double WOW.

Excuses heard from guitarists:

"I tuned to the piano"

"Those tuners don't work for me"

Forgive them, set down the rules and carry a set of wire cutters around your neck!

Bless their hearts.

We have a new teen P&W band starting up at our church. Our drummer who is 16 is playing with them also. I offered assistance, but so far have not had any requests.

May God bless them and anoint their efforts.

I guess I am too old to be of use to them, even though we have been through the trials of getting a P&W band accepted in a Catholic Church for over 4 years now.

Tell them to buy my 1867 which has a built in tuner, but it sounds like you would have to show them how to use it lol.

I'm not sure how I'd explain the stains on the back of the bowl on your guitar Billy.

You could say... that these youths are so intent on their artistry, that they have not (yet) fallen into the trap of being a bunch of gearheads. You could say that, but then again, you could say a lot of other things as well. The following was emailed to me some months ago:
