Hello OFC'ers,

I couldn't believe what I saw his morning on Ebay.de:

http://cgi.ebay.de/Ovation-Adamas-1687-2-reverse-red-burst-/1805539...

A real read 1687 30th Aniversary Reissue  ! I believed they were all long sold out. Someone out there still looking for one these?

To be honest: around 11 a.m. this morning I decided that I had 30+ days left to figure out how to pay my credit card bill by the end of September and snatched myself one of these -- insane, isn't it? I would have been ready to order it from Al this August yet if only he had had one left. I liked the -8, too, but I was lost from the moment I first heard there was a red one. The guitar of my dreams...

For now this makes my collection complete. Remember: thanks to Mike's support the Grahite Twins are going to celebrate their reunion soon while Al has got my W681-T2 shipped. Now my W597, MERB-I and me are sitting back in the stand/case/chair to await the new family members' arrival. Wow...

Let's see who else is going to get her-/himself one of these exceptional models. If I can help, just let me know...

Cheers
Manfred

You lost me Manfred.

Did you buy the red 1687?

I believe there were only four of the -2. I got one for myself and another for sale or trade down the road.

Yes, stephent28, I just had to buy one of them. Feels like I've definitely become an Adamaddict. BTW: my 1687-2 wasn't even the last one in the shop. The link leads to a sibling that's still available. That's what puzzles me to a cerain degree, too. Like Tony I thought I had read that there were only four of them. But anyway it's rare compared to the -8 and it's my first choice. Probably there were four of them on each continent ;)

Congrats on a great guitar.

I have played one of the ones Tony owns and it is a fabulous sounding guitar!

Congrats Manfred!! That's a beauty (the -2's are my fave colour :D )

Besides being a 2 knobber, are there any other significant differences between the limited edition 30th Anniversary models and the regular ones produced in the 1990's (with the OP24)?

Sorry: I'm not sure, John. I guess that's something that Al or Mr. Ovation should be able answer. Are you playing with the thought of adding another 168*-2 to your collection?

BTW: how does the 1688's sound compare to the SMT (1598) and CVT (W598) models? Could you give me an idea please because I won't be able to judge myself until I eventually buy one some day (they're so scarce over here...)?

personally.....I think the 1688 blows all the other ones out of the water with only the Adamas 2 version being in the same ballpark.

A 2080 12 would also be in the same league as a 1688 but there is only one of those in existence that I am aware of. It use to belong to Fugot who sold it to another OFCer.

Of course there is also the 2080D 12 string (another 1 off) that I posted up in another thread but that is an entirely different beast and not really fair to compare.
