Do they sound like crap or are they ok? |

Location: Phoenix AZ | I never owned one, but have played a few. I would say they follow the typical Ovation trend: They sound good for the money. If you expect it to sound like a d28 you'll probably be disappointed. But I would venture to say it sounds better than a lot of other guitars in its price range. |

Location: Newington, CT | Hmmmm...I hope this is not TOO unhelpful, and might be only tangentially related. I have an Ultra 2071, and, for a $400-$600 guitar, it sounds GREAT. A real bargain for that kind of money. I don't know, however, what are the differences between it and a 1517. The Ovation site probably gives those details. |

Location: Seymour, Tennessee | OK, again thanks, I'm gonna pick one up for $150 with case for my buddy here who wants to start playing.
It an older one, not beat up too bad, and it sounds like it would be a decent beginner guitar. |

| Any guitar that has its strings, has a relatively straight neck and does not have 1/2" action between the 12th fret and the bottom of the strings is a great deal @ $150. Good grab, enjoy |

Says it has some small finish checks so I'm guessing decent cracks, but as long as they aren't in the wood and not too bad, I'll pick it up.
So if my buddy gets it, that'll be Ovation Convert #3 since I've been deployed :) |
