I was trying to record my new song (see my last post) and I was getting some really terrible hiss. I tried new cables, bypassing the amp, bypassing the effects, different channels on the board...nothing worked. Finally I popped the pre-amp out of the guitar and changed the battery and the hiss went away! It was just the battery getting weak. I would have never guessed that could cause hiss like that. Just wanted to pass this along for anyone it may benefit. Happy Playing! :D

I would also add that you change it for a new battery and not the two or three sitting on the shelf that have been in constant rotation  I'm looking at the 2010 Calendar and it looks to me like a potential OFC NW Gathering on the July 3-5 Weekend. I'm thinking a few BFLG Hand's on seminars are in order!

I changed the strings on the Custom Balladeer and checked the battery. It was fine and hasn't been replaced in years. Apparently the old preamps didn't drain the batteries when they were just sitting around. The only thing I use the new preamps for is the tuners.
