Anyone know anything about, or have, Cocobolo as a fretboard material? Any plus's or minus's?

How about Zebrawood as a tonewood for back and sides?

I've only seen Cocobolo used in pistol grips,(by Houge Grips) very pretty stuff!
I think it'd look really interesting as a fretboard material.

Cocobolo is in the rosewood family. Not as dense as ebony, and oilier than the better known rosewoods.

Here's an article discussing zebrawood as a tonewood . Says it's tonally very similar to EIR.

I recently got a Merrill in coco. Sounds much like Brazillion.

I thought I remembered something about working coco and precautions.

copied this from wiki
"Care must be used when cutting Cocobolo, as the wood's oils can induce allergic reactions if inhaled or exposed to unprotected skin and eyes. A dust collection system, coupled with the use of personal protective equipment such as respirators, is highly recommended when machining this wood."

Same caution applies to a lot of exotics....

....I broke out in a rash from ebony dust while I was routing a fretboard for inlays.
