Hard question because I know most of us have more than one Ovation. As much as I love both my Adamas I and II, I would have to go with nylon strings as my only guitar, so the only Ovation I would keep is: My 1984 Sunburst Country Artist Cutaway 1674 How about you? If it came down to JUST one guitar, I think it'd have to be my CBalladeer. First guitar I ever bought. Been with me a long while, and has gotten me through some tough times. Kinda' like Willie's "Trigger". I couldn't conscionably part with it.

Wait...does that mean my Breadwinner has to go? Hmmm. I'll by a Gibson sticker, put it on the headstock and nobody will know the better. . Next thing ya know we will be playing the "If we are on a lifeboat and one OFC member has to go" game. Or worse..."Survivor /OFC Island"

But my 1617 (sunburst) Legend will stay by my side till the day I die. I bought her new in the eighties and she has never let me down. I play her constantly and have only needed one neck adjustment in all these years. She shows her age with a few cracks, wrinkles and she needs some fret work, but we are growing old together as I have a few cracks and wrinkles myself!

For example the obvious answer would be to keep the one that would the most difficult to replace. Maybe my CL is my "favorite" guitar, but I also know that I could replace it tomorrow if I had to. So you have to add the stipulation that you can never aquire another guitar for the rest of your life. So, that being the case I would have to say '68 Josh White. It's not my best sounding guitar or my most valuable guitar. Doesn't even have the most sentimental value. But given the restriction of one guitar for the rest of my life - that one would probably be IT. Plus of course a lifetime supply of strings and picks.

As much a solid-body guy I am, I think it would either be my "book" Viper or just my original Ovation Medallion. The Medallion lasted this long, and will probably go another 30 years with no problem, but the Viper...hmmmm Nope, it would have to be the Medallion.

Popping up here and there like the phantom of the opera with a beautiful new Ovation right off the assembly line. There would be strange tales of music being played at night with a decidedly bluegrass sound and footsteps and chains being dragged like the "Christmas Carol", "This is Marley, ghoooost of Ovations past, rattle, rattle, Marley, wishing he was on old Rocky Top, repent you sinners and never again build a super shallow bowl ooowah ooowah" No problem for me, big problem for the factory and their ancient haunted building.
