If you would, how many hours per week do your fingers spent on the fretboard? Not time thinking about it or time changing strings. Actual chordin' and strummin' time. Between practice with my buddy Brian T, the little time I squeeze in before work, and various free time, I'll probably get in 6 hours. And Dave....uke time counts as double. :D

Some evenings when I am in the home studio recording, time slips away and I end of spending 3-4 quality hours. I am going to guess around 10 hours a week of actual fretboard time.

Maybr I ought to rename "The 'O'rphanage" to something like "Seesquare's Salubriations", eh wot?!

I guess I'm doing it right then. 4-6 hours and occassionally 8-10 hours per week is how much time I spend making love with my wife. No wonder she's happy with me!

Some days (like today) two or more. When I go play with other people every week or two it's usually for three or four hours. Good idea for a thread Brad. /\/\/

Now we know why Moody only knows three chords. And by the way, the ability to play those three chords, or is it four, for 8-10 hours a week will probably outlast the ability for the 8 - 10 hours a week of "the other". Eventually reality sets in, might want to learn a few more chords for the years to come. noel

I do about 30 min to an hour a night maybe five nights a week when I am motivated. I vary the type instrument, right now I am experimenting with my electrics and the Pignose 40 that my son lent me when I complained that my 100 watt solid state acoustic amp (that he gave me) didn't give me the sound I wanted with my electrics and the 60 watt 80's Carvin 2 channel tube amp my daughter lent me was not something I wanted to get attached to because she might want it back. My kids are vying to please me with amps and I, of staunch OFC moral character, store their amps at no charge to them and play them frequently to be sure they are OK at no additional charge. I play my mandolins at least 2 or 3 times a week to keep my fingers supple and entertain my old shepherd dog who loves acoustic music played late at night before we go to bed. She is the perfect audience, having no preference, never shouting "play Orange Blossom Special", she just lays on the couch and goes asleep loving, at least I think so, anything I play. My acoustic guitar is my other late night therapy, played sometimes with finger picks kapoed up high for a ringing banjo like sound, or just picked in plain old country 3 and 4 chord classics, or sometimes I get out my song book and sing some of my favorites (I have a book with 1000 country songs, most of which I have heard at some time in my life.) Hank Snow fits in well here as he sang and played a monster flat top melody line. Once in a long while I uncover my keyboard and play with strange accompanyments to familiar songs, I can play great melody with my right hand, my son came over and started playing complicated songs with both hands and made me look like a duffer and took away some of the pleasure, the only consolation was that the time he had to learn that kind of stuff was given to him by me working many hours while they were growing and playing at home and with their friends, something I always encouraged them to do and they used what they learned to play in my bands so it was worth it. Something is calling right now, so good night sweetheart, it's time to go, and play something. Thanks for reminding me. Bailey

But on Fri nights with the band it could be more than 4hrs and we only stop for a fast shot of beer. Then on Sa I allway have this Ringo Starr problem :) .
