To quote CNN: "Details are sketchy at this time".

My estimate is 1) it will NOT be cheap and 2) it WILL be worth waiting for.

from what I have deduced:

won't be cheap but less than a custom order

will probably require a deposit so the factory knows how many to make...12,20,50? probably less than 20, one time offer for OFC.

as to the finished model, check out all of the postings made several months back. not hard to figure out.

worth it? yep! believe this one Al will keep for his own.

Sounds like I had better schedule a trip to the marriage counselor! She quit understanding after 4 new guitars this year.

How many Marriage Counselors does it take to change a set of strings?

One, but the strings have to really WANT to change!

Werd, d00d.

My wife has (at least) three pairs of black dress shoes that I swear are identical except for the lug pattern on the sole. Just today she told me that she *needs* a new pair of black shoes. She had to buy a whole new wardrobe, being as she's in the family way. Then I see the two piles of 'old' maternity clothes on her 'other' dresser.

But, you and cliffy are right...can't go there.

I think my wife just gave up? She understands the music thing for me and is supportive but the cash that is involved with the guitars and equipment we seem to like, and need, can be extensive! She loves the Music and I have the Drums, Keyboards and Bass/acoustic in place. (Three of us now are actually playing or parts to "Heart of the Sunrise" pefectly and we have Hold Out your Hand Down!!!) and I am finishing a sound proof Music room in the second floor of the Garage I built this summer. It's a better place to hide the guitars than having them all hanging on the walls of our bedroom! So far I am lucky but I do see the Lawyers telephone number on the speed dial ??????????? Happens she likes YES and Pink Floyd. IF not I'd be in trouble Big Time!

Al when will you be able to spill the beans on this OFC guitar? I'm so far gone with guitar purchases now one more won't matter anymore!

This GAS problem I have will ultimatly make her and the kids rich someday anyway!

As I read this I'm sneaking another one into the house.... My comment about too many guitars is that .... "hey I could have worse habits.... like strip bars!".... then she understands this is "not so bad"...

I've got the answer!!!
Reverse psychology!! (It figures because I work at a psychiatric hospital)

We tell our spouses/ significant others that Al got a great deal on guitar strings. Lets say a lot of 3000(1 for each OFC member) gross sets of EXP's,Adamas etc. They all come with expiration dates and must be used before a specific date. In order to take full advantage of these strings, they can only be used on AN AUTHENTIC OFC GUITAR
  With this in mind it is of the utmost urgency that we all should be able to purchace one regardless of the amount of GAS that each one of us may have.
Remember to stress the fact that it is not good to be wasteful.
Please let me know if my story works for you.
Phil

How about this one

Take wife to dinner at her favorite spot, let her dine on her most favorite dinner regardless of cost, after remarking that seems to have lost so much weight that she needs to eat something like dessert that will bring back some of the shapeliness that is her crowning glory. Over wine (GOOD wine) and dessert, you make the pitch.

"Dearest, I have a confession to make that I have been attracted to another that tried to take me away from you, but I, because of our great love, rejected those wiles, and our relationship is stronger because of it."

Her reply, of course, is "Who is this piece of womanly excrement??"

Now comes the tricky part that if done right gets you the OFC guitar.

"There will never be another woman that I would even turn my head to watch walk by as long as I have you (do not, DO NOT, ogle the waitress while saying this), it is an inanimate object of wood and Lyracord that tempted me, a piece of technology made just for the elite OFCers that I rejected, just like I gave away my favorite toy to a crippled child when I was five and knew my drunken dad would never get me another, and the shoes I gave to a homeless child on the street at age twelve even though I knew I would be laughed at and ridiculed barefoot at school as my drunken dad would never buy me another pair. Noo, I will forget this youthful desire as I did the hope that Mom and I could have something to eat during that four year drunken binge my dad did while I was in high school. It is just a guitar to make up for for a life of deprivation, I know you would rather have shoes and stuff so I will forget it as I always have. Eat your dessert and let me take you shopping, I have to kick off my shoes as I am not used to having any for very long."

That should do it if done right.

Bailey

If this OFC guitar ends up being anything close to an Elite 12 string LX, count me in ;)

I was wondering if Al is putting together an official wait list?

If so, please add me to the list.

I'd be willing to bet that the OFC guitar is not going to be a 12 string.

A good friend of mine recently had an experience that went something like this:

"Honey, I'm going to buy a Porsche".
"You're what? You promised me new carpet for the house and new appliances".
"I know, but you know I'm having a mid-life crisis. I feel like if I don't buy this Porsche I'm likely to go out and have an affair with a young blond."
"Buy the Porsche!"

Substitute "OFC Guitar" for "Porsche" in the above scenario and you ought to be OK.

A porsche is always a good car to have during a midwife crisis, as well as the OFC guitar.
