Yeah, my fingers were getting a bit sore, AND "The Bastard" project got finished!! Check out the awful images at the Gallery. My next investment needs to be in a good digital camera!

Boy...no kidding; I got my 1124 C/A all cleaned up and restrung (plus defumigated the case some more with carpet deoderizer...either was owned by a smoker, or spent it's whole life in a bar). Odor hint: I was telling the salesman when I ordered my L777-5 Legend that this thing really smelled bad; he said one day out in the sun would get rid of most/all of the odor (on the guitar) ... anyone else ever heard this or tried it?

There's a reason that mildew grows in dark places. :) YMMV. Speaking of smelly cases, the case for my Cropper reaks of vanilla and campfire smoke. It's brand new, never been sold/used/out of the store. I put it down to a combination of the foam, the faux fur and the adhesive. Maybe I'll have to put mine outside in the sun tomorrow, too. As long as I'm doing the schizophrenic loose association of words/ideas thing...I've noticed that since I've been playing my Elite outside, the finish seems to have a 'warmer' appearence...almost as if it's turning more amber instead of just clear (it's a natural finish, I guess that's a -4). Is this normal? Doesn't seem to have affected the tone...at least no more so than the polyfur on my strings has. :) EDIT: It's UV-C (short wavelength) ultraviolet rays that kill bacteria and such...man, I have a diverse array of acquaintances (or should I say, they're a motley crew?)

This makes sense, though I've found the only thing that really works is clorox. Putting the case in the sun shouldn't be a problem, but putting a guitar in the sun, I don't think so.

Joined: May 2003 Posts: 79 Location: Toronto, Canada | I used a pressurized hand steam cleaner to clean out my smelly case. That and a combination of Febreze and some mild sunshine; it now smells fresh! Yeah, it gave me something to do during the blackout...as well as playng my Ovation. wemedge

I used Febreeze on it, which got rid of the mothball smell, but then it reeked of Febreeze, which wasn't too much better actually. I put the open case out on our deck for the whole afternoon and evening a couple of sunny days, and it is much better now. You can catch the faintest whiff of Febreeze now when you open the case, but it's tolerable. Roger

Just got back online myself. I'm sure glad I changed my password to something I could remember early on! Hopefully now that these fancy gizmos have had some attention, we can get back to normal! Good job miles! Dale

Connected by guitars we play, I drop by each day, for the latest chatter / news about things related to "Ovation." But the friendly connections missing the damn computer is on vacation !
