I see where some of you guys have which "O's" you have in your signature but some don't. My question is to you guys and gals..........what do you have? My first is on the way and it is an Elite LX. Can't wait for it to get here. Just curious to see what you have and which may be the favored. Some of you may have so many that a number count would be easier. My wife thinks I am crazy to be very soon a two guitar owner. Go figure, but she has not really bitched just shakes her head.

I am the proud (second) owner of a 1989 Elite 1868 in natural. Neck is straight, frets didn't look like they'd ever been played, not a scratch on it. In looking for an acoustic, I played everything from the $79 el-cheapo house brand up to and including some five-digit Gibson, Martin and Taylors. The O just felt/sounded right, though. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Hopefully, I'll be adding to the collection, assuming I can find a nice O solid body (preferrably a breadweiner or preacher). Or maybe an O jazzbox (seem to be few and far between). Or maybe a USA-made Hamer. Or...

;)

I have an Adamas II (ebony board) from Alpep, and another Adamas II (walnut board) from Ebay on the way. I'll be happy if it actually arrives, and arrives in one piece (!).

After a decent interval I may be able to get an Adamas.

To me the Adamas fulfills my needs in an acoustic, soundwise and aesthetically, minus most of the structural problems that can affect all-wood acoustics (although I like them too). And I love just looking at them, too.

Also, perversely, the fact that some players look at Ovations as "salad bowls" makes me love them all the more.

If you do a search thru the archives (make sure that you have nachos and a margarita on hand) you'll find that this has been discussed quite a bit. For some, tho', it's an ongoing topic as their collection changes on a regular basis.

I am the proud owner (and shameful player) of a black UK2 electric, a cherry Magnum II bass, and a beautiful new natural Balladeer LX. I'm pretty much a hobbyist player so I picked what would give me the most versatility for the buck, and these three (plus my DeArmond C guitar) have filled the bill nicely.

Pix of all in the gallery (I think)...

Damn Miles-
Ever thought of opening a guitar shop? My wife would flip her lid and I would be in divorce court. Jeez........that's unreal and not even the whole list. That's dedication or someone who has the bucks..........

It's dedication. Having the cake helps but you don't just find these things, you gotta work at it, and that, my friends is where all the fun is.

Here's my complete list:

1976 Applause AA14-4 6-String
1978 Ovation 1617-4 Legend 6-string
1981 Ovation 1118-1 Glen Campbell 12-string
2001 Adamas 1598-MERB Melissa Etheridge 12-String
2003 Ovation 1777-NAT Legend 6-string
2004 Ovation GCS771-C Balladeer 6-string
2003 Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus ('burst)
2004 Larrivee O-09 Flame Maple Parlor

I had been putting the Os on with my signature, but I got lazy. The Epi may be going bye-bye, I don't play it that much. I may get one, maybe two more guitars, but there is no chance I will ever threaten Miles' collection in numbers! :D

More importantly........do you guys have names for your guitars? Some of you that would be impossible due to the shear volume. Are they like cars where they become he or she's and take on a name for themselves? :D

I know this isn't original, nor very clever for that matter, but I call my '83 Custom Legend "Blackie," because it sports a black top, and my Legend LTD I sometimes call "Brownie," because... Well, you get the picture. I told you it wasn't very clever.

My wife calls my Elite "Buckshot," bescause she says the multi soundhole configuration reminds her of bullet holes

I never did get around to naming the guitars although some did get numbers (Adamas 220, or Adamas35, the 1987 number 22)
A couple of my Nationals have names, the Style 1 tricone is J C Chastain and has a date Feb 10 1928 engraved on it so that one is JC Chastain (is that f#$@*&g original or what?) and a style 4 is the Antone Chris model for again obvious reasons.

One of the Collings is called Mev'n which is what it is, Maple B&S&N, Engleman top, Vintage bridge string spacing, Natural finish.

All the rest are just refered to by what they are, the CJ41 or OM42 or the stlye 3 or whatever.

I have an early 1979 1115-1 (ac. only) Pacemaker 12 string (my freebie), late 1985 1612-4 Custom Balladeer, 2002 Collectors/African Cherry top, 2003 1858-BCB Custom Elite 12 string, 2000 Epiphone Riviera Jorma K. Sig. model (335 style), 1953 Gibson ES-175 & my new arrival- a 1985 Tacoma Papoose ac/elec. I gave my late 30's/early 40's Kalamazoo to my granddaughter.
I can see the possibility of a nice Custom Legend at some point in the future when I have more room.

Elite LX...I think you bring up a good point about the signatures reflecting "O" ownership (excluding the prohibitively extensive lists of Mr. O & Standing O, that is!) I've updated my signature. Thanks for the suggestion.

Just a thought I had Lisa. I thought it would be nice when someone post or replies to see some of their babies...........this can be a sickness. In my short time in the guitar world I can see from my motorcycle days the addiction and derangement........& I love it! :p

Wadda ya mean? Put pictures in the gallery or on the actual threads?

I have my hubby working on putting a photo of my Balladeer on my profile...if you want to look at Ovations go to Standing Ovations photo gallery. It's really nice!
