Wish me luck guys, I'm going under the knife for a new right knee tomorrow. If things go well, I'll be back on line in a week or so. I should be able to play in a few days but it will be a while before I can get to the basement and my computer.

Bill, best of luck, hope everything goes OK. I have an arthritic right knee and I could possibly end up in that position myself.

Bill:

Don't mean to sound flip about it, but over the last year we've gotten the dog two new knees. It's amazing what can be done now. You'll be back up and running in no time.

Uh, are you going to have to stay penned up for 6 weeks and only allowed to go outside to pee and poop?

Paul, from what I've heard, I won't even be able to get up and pee for a while let alone poop. Not sure what that's all about but I'll spare you all the details. I wish I could have both knees done but only one is bad enough to do right now. Thanks for the encouragement.

Ya gotta love this place. I can't think of a topic that hasn't been discussed or at least referenced today. Politics, religion, music (of course), guitars, cars, women, motorcycles, society and medical and legal issues.

I need a nap.

New knee, new hip, new teeth, new hair....

Its that new nut that ought to really get you worried. I mean cut a little bit low, and that sting of yours will buzz while you're playin'.

Kinda of a kneejerk reaction, but I'm looking all over the house for my Walgreens reading glasses. Kinda sucks getting old.

I'm kinda glad, in this case, that I'm getting old. I first injured my knee when I was 19 and have been waiting since I was about 35 for a doctor to say he would fix it.

Willard,

Best of luck! I have a friend who just turned 80 and had her knee replaced 6-weeks ago and she was up and walking in 2 days! She is now showing no signs of the operation and is fully functional.

Best wishes!

I knew someone who had hip replacement and they had him up and walking 6 hrs after surgery so scar tissue couldn't build up and to keep the join from getting stiff.

If they still follow this process, good luck with that.
I am sure long term you will be like a new man.

My wife is 37, but due to a serious knee injury at 16 she has a terrible knee. They said she was a candidate for knee replacement, but she was too young. I guess they only expect them to last for 15 to 20 years depending how active you are.

She has to have arthroscopic surgery every 3-5 years to clear out the scar tissue and improper cartilage growth. I believe she is about due again. Maybe they have developed implants that will last longer since the last time she had surgery and she can consider a replacement.

I love all these posts. Bill, when you come back from your surgery, you'll read all these and enjoy them, and know that we're all rooting for you.

Remember the words of my old grandpappy, "You'll live. You just won't enjoy it for a while".

Willard,

We'll miss you here, but trust in your complete recovery. Walking is worth the work and the wait.

While you are recovering, you can think about a new name for you like one of those three word blues player names.

Willard,
Good luck. You'll do great. I work for a company that makes total knee replacements and the technology is amazing. God Bless.

As long as they're gonna be "in there",

Hey Cliff they will only install the door stopper if have a history of "pissing and moaning" about how Ovation slide off our leg! No one pisses or moans around here.....Well we piss...and moan, but we don't piss and moan! Right guys?

Good luck Willard on a speedy recovery, I'll have a beer and toast you tonight, and tomorrow, and the next day....

Bill, I'll think good thoughts.

It's just another "adventure"... The pisser is when you get home the kids will ask you to get stuff for them as they watch TV... "While your up..."

I can't wait for the "tour stop" to hear the details.

Good luck, and make sure you keep an O parked next to where you are recovering. You don't need no steenkin' knee to play a geetar, just demand your instrument as an important therapy device. By the time you learn to play an Irish jig, your knee will be healed enough to dance along with it.
