help
my 16 year old nephew just called me. He has a pickup gig on Saturday afternoon and the guitar player he was using is not going to make it (apparently he is going to an iron madien concert) anyway the kid was begging me to fill in at the gig. I really don't want to do it but don't see any way out.

I am looking for some cool tunes to do with these kids hopefully easy ones to learn since we will have only one reheasal. (did i say the gig was saturday)

I need your suggestions
so far I have
sunshine of your love
gloria
purple haze
20th century boy
house of the rising sun
and my mind is blank.
remember these are teenage kids into classic rock. so I need tunes that are easy to do and good for on stage.

if you have any suggestions let me know and better yet if you have lyrics and tabs e mail them to me.

thanks

Cool site but I think all the tabs have been removed (or at least they were hiding from me).

AC/DC? C'mon, there's nothing easier than Highway to Hell, Hell's Bells, or Have a Drink on Me.

Lynard Skynard is also a good choice, but you really want more guitars.

A little psychedelia? Pictures of Matchstick Men, some Small Faces, maybe some Animals.

Ok, well maybe you'd need two rehersals for that one.

Seriously, Al - you've got to know a million of them. That rehersal might make for a long night but I've got to believe that you'll walk away with more than enough material when it's over. You'll have a blast - guaranteed.

I can almost tell how old you guys are by seeing what you think is "classic" rock.
How about Smoke On the Water or anything by Bachman, Turner Overdrive. If you want to jump ahead 10 years, do you suppose they'd go for any Eagles songs?

The same thing happened to me a few years ago. My son asked me to sit in on a set in his band when one of their guitarists took ill at a club in San Diego. I knew none of their alternative (and all original) songs, but they stuck to the basic rock progressions which they jotted down for me during the pre-set break, and I managed to get by. Plus, the music was so loud and the audience was so stoned I doubt that it made any difference.
