Wow. I may have just figured out my next guitar. Jeff, buy this one and send it around the country too. Put me on the list. Thanks.

Try to have it here by next weekend and I'll take to the gathering. Thanks again. You're a real pal.

Yep, it sure is!

The upgraded tuners takes care of the main complaint with these guitars as they come stock. I don't have any use for the Bigsby, but a nice upgrade for those that do.

I'll have to put that on my list to buy if I ever learn to play electric guitar. I still wish I'd kept my first guitar, a Univox knockoff of the ES335. I don't know if I want to suffer enough to learn to play the blues, though.

Tell your wife you just put another guitar on the "to buy" list. That could bring on some suffering :)

Personally, i'm waiting for an Improv to pop up.

I keep beating the Ibanez drum, but stop by a GC and play some of the artcore series. Ugly headstock logo, I know, but sweet, sweet tones for the price. Like a lot of lower end guitars, they can usually benefit from an upgrade to the tuning machines. Other than that, mine was right near perfect straight from the store.

I have played the Artcore. I liked it.

Mark, my first electric was a Univox Les Paul. Bought it and sold it for $100.

I did better. I bought mine for $35 and sold it with a WahWah pedal that someone gave me for $125. That paid for about half of my first Ovation.

Another possibility might be something from the Epiphone Elitist series, although they might be a bit above your price.

I love the Artcore series and most of them are significantly under 500 bucks. Also, the Epi dots are nice and really reasonably priced. If you're set at spending around 500 I bet you could buy a nice dot and toss in some new pickups and tuners...

Cheers,
JT

You know I was looking at a dot (and I'm an epiphone fan)--but when I compared them with the Artcore, I liked the artcore sound better. Now if you can spring another C-note, there's always this:

Sweet! Is that the one with the upgraded tuners? How do you like it?
