I know some of you have noticed already that there is a small herd of Ovation solid body bodies on Fleabay now. The definition is lacking in the pictures and the description is general but they look to have "shelf" wear.

Observation - I believe that any NOS parts like necks and bodies all had some sort of issue that made them become "spares". Any word from the historian crowd.

BTW - I will be bidding what I think these bodies are worth. It should be an interesting line up of auctions!

I have many NOS necks that are indeed NOS. As in they are NEW. Some are still wrapped from the paint process and such, many without finish at all, and a few are from guitars that didn't make it for some reason. SOMEONE was going to stop by and help check them out :) I'm also in the process of listing many of my extra Ovation parts in Lisa's store on eBay. Sunny Ledges Collection

As far as the rash of solid body stuff on eBay, it has been a steady rise for some time. There is a large and growing segment of musicians still "discovering" Ovation solid body guitars.

Somebody needed to work past their 11th Anniversary and Wife's birthday before they got more stuff for themselves! I may be slow but I get in the way too!

Woody - is there a 12 step program to help this addiction?? I can see it now... a couple of misc. parts here and there... books on guitar repair and building... a few new tools... have to expand the workshop... new addition on the house...

Where does it end?????

"Where does it end?????"

Why does it have to end????

I have found my pre-retirement niche I think. Nine more years and the (smaller) check goes to the bank even when I don't show up at work. Then we sell the big house and opt fo a smaller one with a detached shop.

So that is why we don't seek a cure but we meet regularly...

Mike,
You could go over and check for a red Ultra GS neck for me. Remember the redneck from Idaho thread?

It's so easy for a thread to get side tracked on this board.

That is a beautiful guitar... As my kids say... "Dude, you rock!". Is that one of the oiled finishes?

I've got most of the pieces to put the Viper jigsaw puzzle together... just need the body and pickguard (hint hint). I have no idea how I'm going to finish this one. Gotta finish the Preacher first.

If you mean the tannnish Maple necked Viper all I did was re-PG, TRC and bridge. It came to me with only the smallest of blemishs on it. It has the poly finish W2 et al put on there.

Jerome's site is fairly extensive. A great reference.

Some of these old solidbodies have held up amazingly well. Tell me again WHY Ovation quit the line...?

The goal is to accumulate or fabricate the other parts, assemble them in a pleasing manner and spread them out amongst the poor and needy (us).

If I have fun in the mean time its a bonus!
