It seems that over the past few weeks our happy family has hit a few bumps in the road. Maybe it is the new moon, full moon, quarter moon, whatever but it is a shame that this has happened a bunch within the past month or so.

I, for one, look forward to getting back to the happy times....talking about guitars, guitars, and more guitars.

Miles, thanks for being more involved in things again and trying to run a good ship. Hopefully the stormy seas are soon behind us.

The dust will settle. In my mind these little growing pains are inevitable. They will run their course in due time and those who care about the relationships they create here, will remain and find happy grounds on which to play.

Tupp, there was nothing in that post you deleted that was not reasonable and well thought out. Except for the fact that it made you sound reasonable. You pussy.

Dave just did that to make you look foolish, Stephen. Maybe it was 9/11 fever. Lots of passions flaring about this time of year. I also enjoy seeing Miles involved again and enjoyed meeting him in Portland.

Stephen, I reread it and it just sounded pompus and stupid. Written by a semi-intoxicated traveler at midnight in Amsterdam. It just rambled on and in the end really said nothing of much merit. This has been a golly-wow of a day. My work life, my home life and my OFC life spinning in non-concentric circles. It'll get better as soon as I crack another cold one and find that damn lighter ...

This place is making me dizzy today and I would like to know where I can get some of the lucidity of the Amsterdam Hash Brownies to help me get things to slow down.

...please don't say Amsterdam as that would not be helpful ;)

I am watching the news as I post. There's a story on now about police clearing and hacking marijuana plantations all over the place.

Go find a police disposal site and stand downwind.
.............................................

On the main topic (there's a topic?) little realtionship flareups happen and pass all the time. The talent is in not over-reacting.

People will say they're leaving for one reason or another, stay away a while, and just come for a little check....lurk a while. Then respond to something that catches their fancy, and BOOm they're back. I've seen it happen (and done it once) many times.

Let nature take it's course, be gentle and understanding. (except when there's a better joke to be had...)

That's not true. The police never dispose of the stuff. They slip it out the back door and sell it back to the dealers. They call it job security. They use the proceeds for the xmas party. ALLEGIDLY.

Keeping with the spirit, I now apologize to anyone I've offended. Doesn't mean I didn't mean it, I'm just apologizing for the heck of it.
Most on this board can fling it with the best and if so, should be able to catch it as well. The truly gifted, of which I am not, make me think for days about whether I should be insulted.

Having lurked around these parts for a few years now ... it's happened before and it'll happen again. No big deal. We learn more about people as this stuff happens, and I hope we all learn a little bit more about tolerance and rightousness ... and when one is appropriate and when one is not. It's the folks that don't learn the lesson that get po'd and bail. So be it. Let's move on.

I am watching the news as I post. There's a story on now about police clearing and hacking marijuana plantations all over the place.
Now is the time because the harvest moon draws nigh. They love to publicize to justify the huge sums of money spent on the "problem". Truth be told, with all of their high-tech toys and manpower, they bag less than 5% of the crop here in the US. The rest winds up in peace pipes ... which I dearly wish we could've passed around before all the aggressive behavior started up.

I have really come to see the light regarding touchy subjects on the OFC, I am a changed man. See you guys really can influence me. The internet can really be a powder keg. But there is one observation I noted after looking back at some recent threads:

Many of the most vocal members, who insisted that you want to keep the forum friendly and music-focused, are the very ones who pile on to a hot topic and push other member’s buttons. Same with a lot of the things that Al and Miles have asked us not to do. It’s some of the very members who would fight to the death to defend the sanctity of the OFC that are lobbing the turds into other people’s threads.

Just food for thought.

Brian...I see some truth in what you said.
Like stonebobbo said...We can get through this. Let's just remember the big picture here.
I certainly don't want this to be the day that the OFC "jumps the shark"!

Oh, come on Moody. You can't let it die. We're only on page 2. How about this ...

These two Ovation dealers are walking through the NAMM show and each carrying an ovation guitar in its case. They feel the call of nature and walk one after the other into the mens room. They line up at two adjacent urinals, put their cases down beside them and commence to take a leak.

The first dealer says to the other, "You know, here we are competitors fighting tooth and nail for the buyers money and loyalty, yet deep down inside we're really very similar, aren't we?"

The second dealer replies, "Yeah, whatever".

The first dealer continues to wax poetic, "Yes, we're so similar, brothers in arms, two peas in a pod ... but one thing puzzles me. If we are so similar, why is your "splash" so much louder than mine?"

The second dealer chuckles, "Well A-hole, maybe that's because I'm pissing all over your guitar case."

Why does the good stuff always happen when I'm in the other room?

Why are JW and Tuppy making reasonable and pleasant statements?

Nobody tells me anything.
