Joined: August 2003 Posts: 396 | I had previously seen Heart in about 1978-79. They were great! I saw them last night and they still Rock! Excellent rock and acoustic numbers, a professional first-rate band, and the ladies still sing, I mean Ann can sing! We know Nancy can play. Enjoyed it thoroughly! No Ovations, but still excellent guitar music. If you get the chance, I highly recommend them. Not a believer? Check out their Alive in Seattle DVD. As we were walking back to the car, I heard the buzz from the crowd, "I can't believe they were this good." and "They can rock with the best."

I've got on TiVo: CMT Crossroads with Heart and Wynonna, and, VH1 Classic Concert Heart and Friends ... I've got on VHS tape Nancy Wilson Instructional Guitar, and, Bravo Channel "Musicians" which was an interview of Ann and Nancy, and acoustic performances by them. I've got various Heart "vinyl" albums from the 70s (remember 33 & 1/3 LP's?) plus various Heart Greatest Hits CDs. And I did see Heart live show back in the 70s, probably when the Barracuda song was new. Nowadays when Heart comes to town for various reasons I can't go to the live shows. I remain a big Heart fan, and I wish them the best. -Gary K

I thought Nancy was still a fine presentable speciman of a women, not too shabby if you ask me, and she can play guitar! Ann has definately aged more like the rest of us mere mortals have, but I thought she sang very well and also showed great enthusiasm for the performance. And I thought some of the Zeppelin covers were pretty good, especially "The Battle for Evermore"

I fear I have bunions older than you! Take it from someone who's been around the block a few times: Nancy Wilson is a FINE lookin' woman-- no matter her age. She's still hot. As Brian T. mentioned, Ann has aged a little less gracefully, but it hasn't affected her singing ability. And that's what it's all about. Which brings up a point: Heart came from an era before video clips when you didn't have to look like a million bucks in order to be a superstar. The fact that both Wilson sisters were knockouts back in the day didn't hurt-- but they would have been superstars anyway even if they weren't pretty because they had the talent. They could bring it. Nowadays you have to look like a supermodel to be successful. You don't really even have to be that talented; we've got vocal processors and pitch correctors and all kinds of electronic gadgets to fool people into thinking you can actually sing. Ya gotcha yer Jessicas and Britneys and Mandys and Kellys (and any other "fill in the blank" from American Idol). Of that whole generation, only Christina Aguilera has developed into a bona fide superstar who has an incredible voice (and an incredible bod)--IMHO. Think of Janis Joplin for a moment. Janis was an incredible talent, but she always looked like she'd been rode hard and hung up wet, sort of a female Keith Richards. She lived hard-- and it showed. A good argument for not drinking Southern Comfort. Janis Joplin would crash and burn if she tried to break into the music business today; she wouldn't be able to get arrested, even with her immense talent. She wouldn't have the "look." I can just hear Simon Cowell: "Well, you can really sing, but you're as ugly as a mud fence. I can't see you being the next American Idol. Next!" As for me, I like singers who can actually sing! Keep the eye candy; give me Heart any day!

I'd like to think that Janice would find her way through even today. <you would never know Janis' voice if she had to break into the biz today. she would not get a chance. grace slick on the other hand WOW

There in a glass display were the on stage outfits Ann and Nancy wore during the "Little Queen" Tour. I can't describe the feelings they evoked. If they were actually wearing them it wouldn't be hard to understand why/how we idolize some Artists. It was a rush, to say the least!
