Why did I decide to pass them on to new blood......(besides building the guitar fund!) I am looking at a matching pair of baritones. Model 2080 6 string baritone Model 2080 12 string baritone. I figure if I can't sing as high as Cliff, I'll just drop the music down to my range. Got a terrific deal on the pair and can't wait for them to hit production.

He loaned me his 1581 and a bag of effects without know much about me, then was a complete gentleman when I went off and bought one from somebody else. This is one reason why it disturbs me greatly when I hear that somebody has taken advantage of his graciousness. I did buy his early model UKii which I love, and the way he moves instruments in and out, I suspect we'll be doing more business in the future. What he really needs is a bigger room, and some decorative consulting . . . an area where I might be of some assistance.

The Professor is referring to an unfortunate but likely scam with an OFCer that I believe I fell for hook, line, and sinker but in my defense....I believe the others that were along for the ride were also fooled as well....they just did not have the available goods. It was not for a small amount.

It's been a hell of a week and I could use to be taken care of :) As far as fellow OFC'rs taking advantage of generosities extended... bless them all, because it will eventually catch up to them. Stephen, I thought I knew the event the Professor was referring to until you said, "others that were along for the ride were also fooled as well....they just did not have the available goods"

I meant that as a local group we were all taken in by this persons apparent sincerity. I was the only one with any guitars available for sale....hence the comment about "they just did not have the available goods". Actually planning on talking to my insurance company next week along with the police to see what options are available to me. Without naming names, the other comments were about our buddy in Florida who received a guitar with "alleged damage" from you.

What do we have to do next... contract with Moody to do background checks prior to fronting someone a guitar? Out of our two situations, you would have had no advance warning, as that individual had no history with the OFC... now you know why I turndown all hot tub invitations. In my situation, it wasn't that our buddy in Florida received the guitar with "alleged damage". He was ecstatic when he got it. He posted it was the minty'est and after removing a shim and a tweek of the rod, it played like butter. I even offered up having the Mothership set it up for him any way he wanted so he could concentrate on playing. The payments never came and he dropped out of site. 7 months later, he reported that "the guitar that played like butter" now needs a neck reset, he had been picking out the filler between the fretboard and top because he felt it does not belong there. My response was just send me my money. 10 months after he received the guitar, it shows up at my door reeking from tobacco? smoke, divots in the rosewood fretboard, etc, etc. Oh, and with a check for $250 to cover repairing the guitar and cover my original shipping  BTW, he had accidently sent me a PM intended for another OFCer where he was apologizing for screwing them. Naturally he had an explanation for what had happened. God Bless our buddy in Florida, he needs it. Quoting a famous OFCer, "...It is about people, friendship and music".

There have been times when Tony, Stephen, or I have loaned a fellow OFCer a guitar of their choice just so they could have music next to them while they worked their way through hard times. Often times, working behind the scene, we have called upon contacts far and wide to remove other obstacles so they could get the break they needed to climb out of the hole they were in. On the other hand, I find it shameful when someone says they want to buy a guitar, makes arrangements to pay it out, accepts the guitar, then disappears... or sells/pawns the guitar before it is paid for... or does not pay for a guitar, beats it up for 10 months because it's the only 12-string they can get their hands on, only to throw it back when it is too damaged to play and another mark is in sight. These kind of people have a "gift" that allows them to justify to others and themselves that what they have done is right. Quoting a famous OFCer, "...It is about people, friendship and music".
