OK I know I am not the only person watching this train wreck on tv.
what are your opinions?
isn't tommy lee a nutcase?
gilby clarke? not my idea of a lead guitarist.
jason newsted? too nice and talented to be hooked up with the other losers.

dalana? no way too punk and hardcore. Strong in the beginning but the last few shows her performances were embarassing.

storm large? hot bim, ugly tatoos, not the voice for a hard rock band but could handle some REAL singing chores

mahvi or whatever his name is? my choice for the winner. consistently strong vocals and performances and would fit the band. Plus he is from iceland home of the hottest bims on the planet.

lucas? too goth

toby? too canadian

your thoughts?

Sorry for the tangent, but my thoughts... buy a TiVo and only record what you really want to watch. Then watch it when you want to, and skip the commercials, so you get to watch an hour-long show in 45 minutes or less.

Before TiVo, I found that the shows that I wanted to watch weren't on at the time I had available to sit down at the TV. And trying to find something good during those times was an exercise in frustration.

I basically haven't watched live TV in years, so I haven't been subjected to all the crap "reality" shows.

None of those guys in the band are Rock n' Roll. I hate them all. Give me a break Tommy Lee, you were in a crap band and took the fame away from the Real metal bands/guitarists who should have gotten the fame and ruined peoples look on metal.

On that note, y'all see the video where Yngwie Malmsteen buys and old Fender like a 60 something for 6000, then throws it in his car with the store owners watching? I laughed so hard. It was in the case...it was fine.

My brother's been watching...all I know is that I can't imagine a band going anywhere (assuming the "reality" part of the show isn't just for TV ratings this year) where they pick a lead singer after the rest of the band has already written most of their music. It would be like buying an entire wardrobe worth of expensive clothing you couldn't return, without knowing the size (or gender) of the person you're buying it for!

Not to mention, you're talking about musicians who, don't get me wrong, do have talent, but come on...what straight non-screwed-the-head person actually WANTS to go see Tommy Lee in concert? Personally, I have no interest in watching it if for no other reason than the freaks like Tommy and Dave Navarro that just bother me to the core.

Look at it practically; these guys were big news before, and could be again rightfully, but were not even the mainline performers in the bands that made them famous. On top of which, how many popular rock bands does everyone know the lead singer of? Tons! People know Scott Stapp, Chad Kroger, Steven Tyler, Sammy Hagar, and so on...but ask any normal person who the drummer is in those bands...nothing but blank looks. Assuming the whole show is not just another show, they're banking on the success of a band being based on a gimmick-picked lead singer and a bunch of older guys who once upon a time played with Guns & Roses, Metallica...bottom line is, now, who is really going to care?

IMHO, the whole thing is a farce, just like American Idol, and if this band actually releases more than one CD, I will eat my own hat!

I watch it and enjoy it. Blows away the wanna be singers on Idol. I also agree almost 100% with Al's assessment of the singers....especially Dalana who was an early favorite but has really crashed and burned.

My favorite is actually Toby (from Aussie not Canada ) but Magni is kick ass also. Wish I could sing half as good as either one of them.

I also loved the comment made by Lucas who said singing on the show was great because before it, he usually sang for empty beer bottles and ashtrays!

Hated to see Storm leave the show tonight since she definatly had a strong performance and original song the night before.....even hate more the thought of not seeing that hottie in her tank tops!!!!!

Agreed. When Storm left the building, I did too. Navarro, Lee, et. al. have turned into a parody of themselves. My money says the band throws out a quick and lousy CD, tours for six months and everybody goes home.

". . your thoughts? . ."

I think we need to take up a collection to purchase "a Life" for you guys to pass around and share.

"Corporate-Rock" was/is bad enough.

THIS is "Corporate/Network, Demographic, Whiney, HighDrama, WhiteTrash, Pre-Packaged, Bad Karaoke-Rock".

I play in a bad cover band every weekend.
I don't need t'tune in a couple times a week to watch somebody else do it (badly) between commercial breaks.

While we're at it . . . any opinions as to whether "TheView" is better/worse with "Rosie" as opposed to "Star"??

oy.

Neither Rosie or Star are my idea of a pleasent view :D

Glad I don't watch TV hardly ever, cuz reality TV really bites. And reality TV with that idiot Tommy Lee would be even worse :)

I'm with Joyful Noise on this one; but having read what's been posted so far, I can skip this particular musical offering without a second thought--thanks for making it so easy.

Well, i didn't watch any of it, except the first performance of Storm. Pissed me off a bit that she was singing rough R&R. You should hear this gal sing sultry standards in an intimate setting. Her Summer Time can bring tears to your eyes. Although, i have to admit i was amazed that she could pull it off. A testament to her artistic depth.

Selfishly, it's nice to hear she's been evicted. Now she can come back home to Portland and settle back into Wilf's lounge. Hopefully, without a new found entourage and a bunch of TV groupies.

OK, I have one basic thought:
These reality shows are retarded. If you watch them you learn nothing. In fact, instead of information going in, the process is reversed and your brains get sucked out.

The word for the day is "Boycott".

No, it's not what a Cub Scout sleeps on. It's your exercise over what you want to sieve through your brain.

You guys dissing a show you appear to have never watched is quite similar to the wood box snobs who condemn Ovations without ever playing the USA made ones.

I agree that I would never waste my time on Survior, Big Brother, Biggest Loser, etc (and yes I did at least watch one of each before condemning them) but since I love music, I find Rockstar to be entertaining and the performers are each very talented in their own way.

sorry guys, I am a tv junkie. better than being a junkie, junkie but if phil hooks me up with the morphine, then I will let you know.

as for the show, it is entertainment, just like cartoons, etc. If i quit the day and watch a couple of mindless shows at night and laugh at the losers and lust after the bims, what's the harm?

I know I should be playing my guitar more or even better just changing the strings.

Sorry Cliff...your comments made it sound as though you had never watched the show. Now that we know you have, let's talk about that Air Supply concert some more!

Also, sorry about giving Clay Aiken your phone number. He assured me that you had been like a father (or was it priest) to him and "consoled" him many times in his hours of need!

I've been watching it. I like it. I would like Dilana to win as it would make Supernova interesting. Having seen their songs with a good male vocal just delivering the lines, as good as they are, one needs more to be successful today.

As far as the "6-month tour and they'll be a memory" comment (I paraphrased).. I'd take it. Not to mention the royalties from the show... cool.. sign me up.

As far as the band itself, I think Tommy, Jason and Gilby are the unsung heroes of the bands they are most associated with. Tommy "makes" the Crue, Gilby was stuck in the shadow of Slash, and Jason is the only real musician in Metallica as far as I'm concerned. I think it's cool they got together, and I like the tracks I've heard so far.
