Joined: September 2005 Posts: 21 Location: Chapel Hill, NC | So, with production moving offshore and discontinuation of American Made Ovations, I picked up a 2771 LX at a firesale price from Sweetwater. Well, it's a great great guitar. Here's a song named "Last Ovation Standing" on which I used the guitar. Link should just start up your media player. http://www.mixposure.com/play.php?mode=song_hifi&band_id=17&song_id... From my MixPosure postings: http://www.mixposure.com/George_Shepherd/music.php?p=7 Thanks for indulging!!! George

I gotta beleive it's the head-set phone jockeys at Musicians Friend & the like and the "dudes" who work the floor at Guitar Center that are the source of the bad information. Although it seem like it falls on deaf ears when we carry on with our grand marketing ideas, I think Ovation and the new Fender executives have a public perception problem here and are not aware of it. The sales force on the front lines are in serious need of some education.

Yeah, Fender bought 'em and fired everybody and is shipping everything to China, so this is your last chance to get any of them... and this is the Last One in (name your city) That's why we marked it up from $599 to $999 which is still less than the MSRP... And the case is $129 but I can get it for ya' for $99."

A guy was talking to the salesman about the GC178LX and I told him what a great deal it was. He started asking me a bunch of questions that the salesman hadn't or couldn't answer. They went from the real basic, like why the round back, to the difference between the OP Pro and OP30 preamps. I'll have to go back and see if he bought it. Forgot to tell him about this site.

I heard the same thing about three times, so I believed it. Well, I'm glad they're not moving offshore. But, because I was misinformed, I DID pick up the 2771 LX for 600.00. Got a large bowl Ovation for 250.00 LESS than I paid for an 1771LX mid-size bowl THREE years ago. And the top on this one's not warping like the top on the 1771LX. So, I'm glad they're staying here, and I'm also glad several vendors seemed to be offloading them. I love this guitar!

I'm leaning towards pushing a grocery cart around town and picking up crap myself. I'll need to trade all my gits for a MOB first, so no one will steal it while I'm cashing in my pop cans....

SOME production is being moved offshore, and SOME models will be discontinued as USA models and now made overseas - Balladeer, Elite-T and Std. Elite. Isn't that what we read? This was necessary to free up factory space to move Guild into the Ovation plant. So, with production moving offshore and discontinuation of American Made Ovations, I picked up a 2771 LX at a firesale price from Sweetwater. In line with this, I notice that the Ovation website has been altered to no longer divide itself into USA Ovation and Ovation. Now it's just one big happy mess with no reference to where anything is made. Dave

The point that was missed is that these moves are NOT happening for negatiuve reasons. They are the POSITIVE result of bringing an historic and well respected guitar manufacuring (Guild) to New Hartford. Yes it's a change, but it's not like New Hartford is shutting their doors and laying off the skilled people that work there. As ambassedors of all things Ovation, we should be positively spinning the great news that Ovation is building today some of the finest guitars in their recent history, doing fantastic custom orders, and as always their support and service is second to none. Now factor in Guild which may bring some new talents, manufacturing technology and opportunity for cross breeding and I think you have a great potential in good old New Hartford. Dave
