For Sale: Adamas 2080 acoustic electric guitar. This guitar has been played for 6 months, approx 2 hours per week, in a church worship band environment. Guitar was not used/handled at home, only on stage. Guitar is in excellent/new condition with the exception of a surface finish mark at the base of the neck. I placed it on a guitar stand that did not have padding on the top post....I've been very careful how this guitar has been handled and am very meticulous with my instruments....when the surface mark appeared on the back of the neck, I was very upset !!! Guitar was restrung and cleaned approx every 2 weeks, and was wiped down after every worship set with a light guitar polish. The fit/finish on this guitar far surpasses my 1980 Custom Legend. Anyone that loves the Ovation line will be extremely impressed with this Adamas. It has great tone...crisp lows and crisp highs. I don't much care for the VIP pre-amp....I never did use any of the image settings. The sound is perfect with the image slider set to zero. I am selling because I recently switched to the dark side and purchased a wood guitar with a wider neck. I have large hands and this neck is slightly too narrow. I wanted to post to this site 1st...to give someone here the opportunity to purchase a wonderful instrument.

This is a BEAUTIFUL guitar!!! I know...I have three of 'em and love 'em all. Price is pretty good too! E-bay usually shows 'em at $2,400 or so.

Only on the Ovation site can a person post a guitar for sale only to have his post hijacked by someone selling the same guitar for less money. And then have all his cronies show up to support him instead of the original seller. If anyone else would have done this they would have been banned permanently.

One of the small perks of owning the website.

That's bullsuit and if you believe it you should go to another forum and not hang out here!

Seriously....it happens all the time with the fuckin PSA messages, the ebay ads, and even more recently someone posting up an Ovation book only to have another member jump in the next day and list the same item. Since a new thread was started I guess that makes it ok.

Open you eyes and give some respect to long time members vs drive by self serving part timers.

Sometimes you self righteous members make me want to puke.

Uh, in my own defense, I posted my book for the same price and that was after the first one had been spoken for. But, thanks for thinking of me!

You have got to be f@$%ing kidding me (or high). An Ovation/Adamas dealer, the #1 such in the US, co-founder of this site, gives FREE advertising and bandwidth, along with a captive worldwide target audience, to every Tom Dick and Harry (and drive-by, check the post count of the OP) who has a guitar to sell, tolerates re-postings of eBay ads, CraigsList ads, every other freakin' ad no matter how remotely related it might be to Ovation/Adamas, while members with years on this board have their offers for sale buried by those same countless re-postings of off-site ads, and you have the nerve to call him out for mentioning that he has a similar item for sale?

Tell you what, open a bar down there on the Gulf Coast and cover the windows with flyers advertising EVERY competing bar's and restaurant's menus and prices for free, but don't you dare mention what YOUR prices or specials might be.

Jeez, what a load of self-entitled crap.

OK guys you can`t hurt my feelings so grow up a little. I don`t have a lot of time to waste on this today but the bottom line is the guy followed the rules, posted a price and thats that. How would you feel if you posted a guitar for sale and somebody jumped in saying look at mine its a better deal. Thats just not how it should be done you guys know this.

That is not what happened. AlanM posted that 2080s on eBay go for $2400. Al pointed out that is not true and provided an example.

How would you feel if you were in the market for a guitar, saw a posting with a price and then a comment from a respected member about how great a deal it is and that the going price on eBay is much higher ... and then you find out that you were duped into thinking new guitars go for $1000 more than they really do. Personally, I would think that I've been had.

Maybe nobody except the seller ought to be able to post anything in a For Sale post. Caveat Emptor.

That kinda says it there.

In addition, the very first line in the introduction of the For Sale section says:

This are is NOT intended as a "classifieds" section, but more like the bulletin board of your local music hangout where you can buy, sell or trade gear.
If this was a person that played an active part in our "local music hangout" I might have thought it was a dick move, but really, this dude's using our hangout as a classified section and nothing more.

As far as I'm concerned anyone using OUR forum just to sell shit better expect some backlash. Most of the transactions on here are based on trust that's built over time. I personally wouldn't buy anything sight unseen on here from a fly-by-nighter.

That's what eBay/Craigslist is for.

Banshee, you deserve better. I'm sorry the mods and myself did not catch this earlier. How freak'n rude.

Al may have not realized it was in the classifieds, or maybe he did. There was no need for others to pile on.

And FWIW... I hope he doesn't mind I posted this, but it makes a point.

"TSo nice to see how you treat your new members. The fact is, I've read your website for years...SINCE THE START...and it's been my favorite website to look at, since I am an Ovation die-hard. The fact that I didn't have a membership, posted replies or things for sale....is just personal preference. I was also going to make a donation to the website after selling the guitar. I in no way am just using the site to sell something. I'm not going to mix with people who are vulgar and don't know how to be considerate. Thanks for the warm welcome. I
didn't even do anything wrong. Please delete my membership."

In fact you didn't do anything wrong. This is not normally how it goes (you've been around long enough to know that), but sometimes it does.
