Paul Simon, Jim Croce, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Cat Stevens, David Gilmour, Nancy Wilson, Roger Waters, Glen Campbell, Al DiMeola, Dave Mason, Warren Zevon, Larry Coryell, Mac Davis, Kevin Cronin...

That's just off the top of my head. These aren't just folks that played Ovations, they played THIS model. That should say something right there.

The 1619 was the first Custom Legend and is one of the greatest guitars Ovation ever made. Eventually it was replaced with newer models sporting newer electronics, but the 1619 still remains one of the most sought after Ovations there are. One just recently sold on eBay for over $1500! The neck feels like you're playing on an electric. The hand-laid fiberglass bowl (unlike todays machine manufactured ones) rings out much louder than the Custom Legends of today. The abalone is abundant. There are several hundred pieces of abalone, all done by hand, around the binding on the top, the rosette, the fretboard markers, and inlayed Logo. The carved truss rod cover and bridge are a nice touch as well. And the sound is amazing!

The Custom Legend is the absolute top of the line for Ovation. It was back in the 70's and still is today.

The guitar is in excellent condition except for the ugly scar on the front. It doesn't go through wood at all or affect the playability or sound in any way. We'll just call it "character".

It comes with the original case which is in excellent condition for one of it's age. Also included are the original owner's manual, key and other case candy.

$680

Hey, Damon! That is one of the most beautiful guitars I think I've ever seen. It might be because you obviously have a prodigious gift for photography, or it could be that it simply is just a gorgeous guitar. If it were a wideneck, I might be all over it. It's at a GREAT price. I can't believe you've had NO nibbles!?!?!?!?

Best of luck to you!

Alan

I can't believe it either!

I keep asking myself; isn't there some really good reason for me to get a third?

The scar's not so bad. Sure it's visible, but it doesn't go through wood or anything.

I should have added this pic too, and we'll sweeten it up a bit...

Key
Hang tags and manuals
Extra strings
2 capos
leather strap
extra shim (I have the action low)

unfortunately, I don't have the stereo cord, but really, who uses these with those cords anyway?

Hi Carol. Welcome to the OFC!

I'm mobile at the moment but when I get back I'll check for ya. It'll prolly be ssomewhere around the $45ish mark since we're on total opposite sides of this glorious Nation.

I'll send you a private message when I get home.

Damon ... You mentioned that the "scar" doesn't go through the wood ... Is it just in the finish?

No, it's not through the wood, just finish. It might have a slight ding in the wood, but it doesn't go through at all.

Nice ... You could probably buff a lot, if not most of that out with some polishing compound.

Nah, it's not buffable. If you wanted a perfect looking one, it would need to be refinished. It was banged against something, it's not the typical finish crack.

She buys an exceptional guitar from another member within just a few days of joining the OFC, then shows her good sense of humor by naming it "Scar Face."

…cool…

Welcome to the asylum Carol, please keep visiting, I think you will fit in perfectly here…

I personally would think of that mark on that particular guitar more as a "beauty mark" than a scar. It makes it distinctive, yet still beautiful… and just wait until you hear it!

Congrats on snagging "Scar Face," I suspect you beat several other members to that one… ;)
