Did you maintain the Quintad bracing pattern or go with the newer LX bracing? Inlaid Epaulets or overlaid? They wouldn't have refinished the top. You got an all new top. As I said, some pics would help.....

I put it on craigs list because it was an emergency situation. no body bought it. I don't need to sell it so bad now. ( more gigs if you know what I mean) I was approached by a couple of collector friends of mine and they told me not to let it go for less than $1000.00 USD. I posted it here because I thought someone would be able to appreciate it better. But I'm not so sure now. when people post the rude, insulting comments I got here.... well I don't know. Like I said in the posting if you are interested in the guitar I can email you some detailed pics. If you are not interested in the guitar don't call me names.

On another note, when the factory put on the new body (mid bowl, different electronics, and whether you realized it or not, and they would have told you, a new top), it ceased to be a 1537. The reason 1537's are considered such great guitars, is that Ovation got the configuration right. When you change the configuration, you've changed the guitar. Now, your guitar may actually sound better than an original 1537. I don't know. But it's no longer a 1537.

Also, as noted by Moody and some others... with all the modifications (which is not the norm, especially on this guitar), and being that you posted on April 1st, well... you can see where that looks suspicious. I figured there'd be an "April Fools Gotcha" post by now... but apparently not. Good luck with the sale.

Joined: March 2002 Posts: 15678 Location: SoCal | Normally I have no doubt that the top would be changed with a bowl change. But you should know the top of your guitar (I know every nick, crease, and grain pattern in my guitars). You should also recognize a difference in the binding and the darkness (or lack thereof) of the top. Can't imagine that you wouldn't notice. That it looks brand new and not 26-27 years old indicates that the top was replaced. And they move the labels over to the new guitar...
