OK....I tired to keep them in the family but since either the interest in nil or the timing is bad, these two mint/near mint beauties will be heading to ebay this weekend.

Additional pics available in my gallery.

Is the red Adamas shallow or super-shallow?

Hello Stephen,

What is the top frequency number of the 1681 please ?

Thank you.

PS : Steve, in the gallery, it is said the 1881 is a super shallow bowl (SSB).

Dude, Adamas II's don't have frequency numbers.

Steve, I am not really sure if there is a difference between a SB and a SSB. I know this Adamas has better balls than some of my mid and deep bowl models. Just a huge sound unplugged that sounds unbelievable plugged in.

One of our bowl experts, maybe can chime in????

In order from most shallow to deepest:

Supershallow bowl
Artist Bowl (used to be called Shallow Bowl)
Mid-Depth
Contour
Deep Bowl

Original style Adamas versions are 1/4 inch deeper than non-Adamas versions due to a different top attachment.

I'm quite surprise because on my 1581, there's a frequency number (wich is 89)...

Well, maybe I am wrong. When I get back in town on Saturday, I will double check inside the bowl.

I looked in my bowl for the frequency number, but all I found was "Kohler".

Thank's Stephen.
On my Adamas 2, it is hand written inside the bowl, on the Adamas sticker, after the model number (which is also hand written).
It gives : "1581-8 89".

I could never buy a guitar from someone who does not cut off the excess string at the tuners. I looks terrible on such a nice guitar. Like a beautiful girl with long nose hairs. Dave

Never understood the excess string thing. Are they figuring that if something happens to the guitar, they can remove the strings and use them on their next guitar

Now that you mention it, that could be a real moneysaver

...I remember it was considered a small acoustic advantage to leave the strings uncut, more string vibration would facilitate better acoustics, etc...

hahahahahahaha!!!!

I saw an old interview with BB Kind when i was a kid. He said he never cut the XS strings, more than that he winds the entire length of the string around the tuner for two reasons: 1- It doesn't go out of tune as much as the cut strings and is way EZier to put back in tune in a snap.
2- BB King said that when he breaks a string he can just use the XS string to re-string it with the same string.

I remember this cause i was thinking at the time, i'm gonna do the same. But quit it after a few sets of strings. I found out that what BB King said was true, but also that winding the entire string is very very painful. Hahahahaha!!!!!!

But seeing how many legends of guitar playing don't cut their strings, i'm thinking that it might not be the smartest thing to cut them.

I used to not cut the excess string length when I was in high school....thought it was COOL-LOOKING. NOW....I cut 'em off.......
