You know what this guitar is all about so I don't need to go into details here. I'm stuck in Euroland so can't make a fancy ebay style listing, but here's my webpage with some photos and specs. I wanted to get this out there for you to look at, think about and email me if interested. I've bought an almost identical guitar and can't keep both of them. 2005 Collectors Page I bought this guitar new from Al as an FRG. Neither he nor I can figure out why its FRG. There are no visible flaws of any kind. It plays and sounds like a dream. It was a great deal for me, and now it's a great deal for you. $985. includes delivery in the 48 US States. Email me dave@ovationgallery.com if interested. Dave PS - You'll see that I have changed the truss rod cover. I will put the original Collectors truss rod cover back on it prior to shipping.

The sound, playability, etc. of the 05 Collector are amazing and I could never live without a guitar like this. The new one (custom legend contour bowl) is basically the same guitar with a bunch of fancy inlays, abalone and stuff. I just can't justify having two such similar guitars. Although some members certainly could and do! What's in the works that you're getting rid of this one? Dave

I did'nt ask him because I wasn't interested in buying one. He was encouraging me to special order my idea for an Elite 1718T (non-cutaway, deep bowl). I was afraid to ask how much that would cost. Kim could be correct, but my dealer (Al), credit card bill, and UPS tracking number says he's wrong. Did you ever wonder why Kim works in Service and not Production? We'll see next week. Maybe mine is a proto that they pulled out of the trash bin, buffed it up a little and said "eh, ship it - witko will never know the difference." he said that the Custom Legend/Contour Bowl wasn't available yet Dave

Keep the "equipment" handy and I'll let you know if/when your services may be required. It would definately be worth it for me, and I think Frank and Rick would very much enjoy it. Al would just chuckle. As for you? Who knows. Dave

A lot of you/us are spoiled by the old roundbacks. Personally the feel of the "wooden-box effect" of the contour bowl is exactly what I DO like about it. No more feeling like I have a basket of laundry on my lap when I play. But to each his own. I can definately understand how some folks would not like the feel of the contour bowl. Others will agree that having a guitar that actually sits perpendicular to the ground is like a breath of fresh air. Nice to have choices. Dave

For those that are sitters, I find that the contour bowl causes a fair amount of discomfort. I seem to have developed a bit of a shoulder issue and I find that reaching over the contour bowl tends to aggravate it. I did have a Martin dread for 20 or so years, unloaded that piece of firewood as soon as I found out that I could get more than I paid for it. ;) Probabyly the underlying cause of my shoulder problem, except I never played it enough to be able to lay the blame there (hey all you contigency types types out there, you think I have a product liability opportunity here, Martins cause crippling shoulder problems ... I know a cheesy DC that I'm sure will offer up a favorable diagnoses for not a lot of money  ...never mind  ) So I do have some experience with the wood box concept.

The top of the contour bowl seemed to be cutting into my ribs in the top of my chest. Dunno. Just wasn't amazed. Would I refuse to take it if you gave it to me? Um, no.
