Okay, this is a weird one. I was messing around with strange tunings this weekend and in the process came up with this. In a strange way, I kinda like it. I can hear it with a good bass line, some harmony on the chorus, a tasteful bit of lead guitar....Then again, it could go in the video trash can.
I have a VERY thick skin. Tell me what you all think.

Thanks guys, appreciate the compliments.
I should have phrased my question better....
Do you think this song works done acoustically in this kinda minor/ alt tuning, or is just a little too slow and weird? In other words, would this work at an open mic, or would I lose the audience?

I remember when I first heard Eric Clapton do Layla "unplugged", and how I enjoyed it a hundred times more than the original. I also remember Jose Feliciano doing his empassioned version of Light My Fire...and how it just burried the Doors version. That's how this makes me feel. Feels a little bit like David Crosby's late '60's/early '70's work.

I think it would work great for open-mic.
You sing very well and made this song your own. It's a recognizable song, then the personal cover would win an audience over.
Well done again and nice shirt.

Man, that's fantastic. You are a great singer! I like the hypnotic refashioning of the classic tune. I agree: like Layla (only more effective IMO). I also think that the slow delivery showcases your singing as it floats over the open chords... something only really possible on a nice acoustic. Bravo!

Nice job Bob.
I agree that it kinda has that David Crosby 60/70s vibe.

If I heard you at an open mic I would hang around and listen to another.

Better shirt.

I really like this in the minor tonality, it's one of those covers that's better than the original. Most definitely keep in the playlist. Great job.

g8r....I could use some of your lead guitar work on this.

Thanks all, I guess it's a keeper then. I'll continue to work on it, clean it up.

I agree. Same tempo-ish and feel as the original, just a different arrangement/style. Nice.

Someone mentioned the acoustic version of Layla.. If anyone besides Clapton would have committed that blaspheme, they would have been drawn, quartered and hung out to dry. I realize I may be in the minority on this, but I consider Layla 2.0 one of the worst covers of a classic I have ever heard, by anyone. It's right up there with making a movie with a lizard-esque monster in New York and calling it Godzilla. It's just wrong.

Well done! I'd rather hear your new fresh version than the old well worn out Bad Company version for sure.
