I can get one for $150.00 with case. Just wanted to see what other people thought of these.

I sent the owner an email trying to find out what year it is. Thanks for your input. I have missed a lot of good deals lately. I don't want to miss another one.

Jeez...deep bowl, ebony board, solid spruce top...if the neck's straight, for $150 why even question it. Buy it!

Thanks. I think you are right. I better grab it before someone else does.

My ol' lady Gertrude is an 1111-4, serial number in the low 4000s; neck straight as an arrow, strings still riding low and fast, and even with a repaired split in her top she is still one wonderful guitar--if you can get this one for what you've stated, you've got financial breathing room to have Mother put an OpPro or an Optima in it (but be prepared to have to repair the outer wall of the room after you plug it in. :D ;) )
The first pick-up I ever put in mine was a passive Fishman, and from time to time she would feed back with the A string when I was playing a C chord; she's got the Optima in her now and no problems at all. Sounds wonderful in DADGAD, can even tune her down into what I call "C-GAD" (DADGAD a step lower.) Talk about rumble!
If you haven't already guessed, I just love mine, always have, always will--other guitars may come and (maybe, once in a blue moon) go, but Gertrude remains put.

That's a great deal on a vintage -4 Balladeer, especially with a case... it's a truss rod model, which means 5-piece neck and it's VERY light... these were x or vt braced depending on the age. this one looks like an early one... if the action at the 12th is good it's definitely a steal at that price... hand laid bowl..only downside is if it needs a neck re-set it will require someone who knows how to do a "bowl bend"

I'd snap it up in a heartbeat if I didn't already have a 71 1111-1 sunburst.

Good luck!

Mike

I bought one for a beater, 'cause it was REALLY beaten up by the previous owner. Paid $100 for it, but it truly had been beaten up -- spiderweb of finish cracks, something very strange done to the neck, stuff like that. Still plays and sounds nice though. $150 souds like a real bargain if it's in any kind of shape.

I wish that I could find a deal like that... With a case no less.

+1 on the Norton anti-virus not liking your photo site.

Chiming in late here (as usual), but I still have my 1111-4 that I bought new in '71 at Canterbury Music in Glendale, CA. Top has a sizeable bump south of the bridge and the tail has been broken off and repaired (epoxy is great stuff). But for traveling a good bit of the world in my sordid youth — Mediterranean Europe, Caribbean, US East Coast, she has held up very well. All that, great 'aging' of the top and — still, 39 years later, there is not a single crack in the finish. And yes, it still plays great.

Still waiting for the seller to send me contact info. From what I have gathered from his emails, he might be quit a bit older and not real fast on the computer.

Not sure why the anti virus is catching that pic. I scanned the pic when I downloaded it from his email and nothing was found.

I did resize it with a linux resizer. Maybe windows didn't like that. Not sure.

I will email him again and give him my phone # and hope for the best. I'm ready to go pick it up!

I was going to post a pic of mine in yesterday's post but realized I hadn't even added it to my website yet. So I hastily snapped a few pics this morning and put it up:

ksdaddy,

The 1111 looks good!

I noticed the 'Russian' on your site. Ya might want to send Music Mike the label pic. His bride might be able to translate it fer ya.

Like your site and love your attitude! And, oh yeah, KAs rule...
