Location: Brisbane Australia | Deb and I have decided that when we come over in March for Amelia that we are going to drive up to NYC rather than fly.
I hate wasting time in airports and besides you don't see anything.
Basically pick up the car in Miami drive up to Amelia then on to NYC via Washington DC.
We have about 21/2 weeks.
I know there is a huge amount to see.
Just looking for some ideas on things to do places to see etc.

Location: Sydney, Australia | Chinquateaque Va. (sp) where you have to have soft shell crab and clam chowder. Harpers Ferry WV for the history and atmosphere. All the usual stuff in DC such as Washington monument, Smithsonian, Capitol Building etc. |

| remember that it will still be around freezing in NY at that time of year, When we were in NY at Easter time it was below freezing every day.
Coming from your summer to Fla to NY could be a serious jolt to your system.
Washington is a great place to see - so is Richmond.
If you drive across the Chesapeake Bridge on a sunny day it's fantastic - and driving up through East Virginia/Maryland is a lot more relaxing than the I-95 madness.
This is ridiculous - I'm sitting in England giving tourist advice about America to a guy in Australia...... |

I was in Washington back in 84 but Deb hasn't been.
Certainly a great place to visit.
I remember hiring a Pontiac Fiero and driving up through Baltimore to visit friends in Carlisle PA.
It was brand new, had 10 miles on it!!

Location: Vernon CT | AJ, If you are going to NYC why not drive another 1 hr and 45 mins and hit the MotherShip!! I'm sure If you gave Kim and John a heads up they'ed try to work something out in terms of a "short tour" for you. I'd meet you up there to say hi!!

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | While in NYC, grab a sandwich at the Carnegie Deli (biggest stack of meat I've ever seen), then catch a Broadway show. Sure, the road shows come through our towns, but there's nothing like Broadway. I always love to visit the Smithsonian Museums, too, and the Space and Transportation Museums in particular, as you pass through Washington D.C. |

Location: Delaware | If you have seen enough ocean (I think you folks have that in Australia) and would prefer the mountains and woods, Skyline drive which parrells interstste 81 through Virginia is very nice. Along the way are Natural Bridge and Luray Caverns, both awesome (google them). Still might be a little chilly in March, and I81 is quite a bit inland from I95. Also in Virginia is Thomas Jeffersons house/estate Monticello, pretty cool. Old City Philadelphia in Pa., Liberty Bell etc. I got nuttin fer ya here in my little state of Delaware except for me, I'm one mile off I95 just north of Wilmington, so if you need a pit stop and a guitar to caress shoot me a pm. Enjoy your visit not matter which route you take. |

Location: Florida Central Gulf Coast | Anyone traveling the Florida east coast should visit the Kennedy Space Center and St. Augustine.
The KSC is very rea$onable. Plan on a day and a half to catch it all. Fantastic stop if you have any interest whatsoever in aerospace history!
St. Augustine, the oldest European settlement in the U.S., is a low keyed and relaxing foot tour. If ya'll get footsore, be sure to take advantage of the local inexpensive trams. |
