I remember someone recently posting a picture of what looked like a blue version of the '47. What's the story on that? Was that the OFC I?

OK ... We'll try this again ... the blue OFC guitar. How many were made and do they ever come up for sale? I love the look of that guitar! What's the history on it? How about some more pictures???

This one is No. 5. A few years ago, I borrowed Mark's original slothead No. 45 for a month and did a very extensive side-by-side comparison of the two guitars. The results could be summarized as follows: The original slothead was like an original 1957 Chevy with 25,000 miles that had been well-cared for by one owner and ran like a charm. The OFC-I No. 5 was like a 1957 Chevy that was built only within the last few years by Lexus using similar materials and design features, but with 21st century tooling and technology. It also runs like a charm.

Maybe it was Mark's slothead No. 43. It was one or the other, whichever one he owns, I forget.

There were 12 of them built. The picture is of #3 of 12 and is mine. It's a great guitar but I've never really bonded with it. With things being slow, I'd like to sell it. $5000 w/ shipping included to the contiguous U.S.

The last original slothead sold for $12,500.

Holy crap, I'm tempted to sell something to get her for that price. You interested in a trade for another AD I 12 string in beige Paul?

Nope. By and large, I've found that I'm a wood top kinda guy. I've got my Adamas I 12 string and don't need another.

Mostly these days I play my 87C, A braced Legend, Adamas I 12, 1773LX Custom, and FD14.

Well, I tried :)

Surprised the owner of my old 47RI hasn't chimed in here, he was all about my OFC I.

>(psst, hey Kenneth, this one's for sale!)

I thought the pic Tim posted was of my #11, but then I realized the grass was mowed.

If anybody's interested in this guitar, let me know. I'm hoping to have it up on the 'bay next week. If I can't get the $5k, then I'll hold on to it, but I'd prefer to sell it...

And if it goes on ebay, it won't have the carbon graphite case. If nobody here wants it, I'm going to separate the case from the guitar and barter it away. It will still have an excellent case, just not carbon graphite....

bvince,

Here's a picture of my OFC 1 (#6 of 12). As noted, this was a small custom order put together by Alpep back in about 2005/6. It was based on the 47RI, but included the two knobber electronics and -8 color (like quite a number of the original slotheads). I do not think a single one has changed hands since they were released. They were very expensive (for an Ovation/Adamas), but there were some real special aspects to this guitar and some special side goodies, too. Including a carbon fiber case.

Here it is from another angle, next to my OFC 2 guitar:

FWIW, it would take a LOT more to extricate the OFC 1 from me. And mine would NOT come with the grafite case ... that one now belongs to the OFC 2, which is a perfect match.

I want this guitar to find a good home. It's an excellent instrument. Beautifully made, great tone, wonderful vibe. Al outdid him self with this one, but it's just not me.
... Oh ... This is DEFINITELY me. My problem would be that it would take a LONG time to sell enough things in my music room to pay for it. I want it, but I just can't see it within my reach.

Seems to me OFC #3 of 12 and Slothead #0045 have met before.
