A few years ago, I borrowed Mark's original slothead No. 45 for a month and did a very extensive side-by-side comparison of the two guitars. The results could be summarized as follows: The original slothead was like an original 1957 Chevy with 25,000 miles that had been well-cared for by one owner and ran like a charm. The OFC-I No. 5 was like a 1957 Chevy that was built only within the last few years by Lexus using similar materials and design features, but with 21st century tooling and technology. It also runs like a charm. ![]()

With things being slow, I'd like to sell it. $5000 w/ shipping included to the contiguous U.S. The last original slothead sold for $12,500.

It was based on the 47RI, but included the two knobber electronics and -8 color (like quite a number of the original slotheads). I do not think a single one has changed hands since they were released. They were very expensive (for an Ovation/Adamas), but there were some real special aspects to this guitar and some special side goodies, too. Including a carbon fiber case. Here it is from another angle, next to my OFC 2 guitar: FWIW, it would take a LOT more to extricate the OFC 1 from me. And mine would NOT come with the grafite case ... that one now belongs to the OFC 2, which is a perfect match.

Al outdid him self with this one, but it's just not me. ... Oh ... This is DEFINITELY me. My problem would be that it would take a LONG time to sell enough things in my music room to pay for it. I want it, but I just can't see it within my reach.
