Location: Newington, CT | What are some of your favorites? These are things that send shivers up and down the spine, like:
* 6:00 into Rachmninoff's 2nd Piano Concerto
* Last movement of Beethoven's ninth Symphony
* Third movement of Beethoven's Fifthe Piano Concerto
* Last movement of Mendelsson's Scottish Symphony
* Mozart's Clarinet Concerto
To keep things eclectic here:
* The first note of the guitar solo in the Allman Brothers' "Jessica." ('bout 3:40 into it)
* David Phelps' last part in "Let Freedom Ring."
* David Phelps hitting the high part in "O, Holy Night."
* David Phelps hitting the high part in "Battle Hymn of the Republic."
These are just a few that come to mind for me. There are hundreds more, but these came to mind now, and are indicative of where my head is just now. They're the musical moments that I crave now, and they change all the time.

Two that come to mind:
1) Yes - South Side of the Sky - there's a piano solo in the middle of the song that pans between the speakers - especially when I listen to it with headphones on.
2) ELO - Fire On High
Both songs evoke some sort of a physical response in me... this happen to anyone else? |

1. Veterans of Psychic Wars (Live) from ETI Live album: Blue Oyster Cult
It has kindofa dark begining, then this long guitar lead that kindof takes you to a happy place, but the way it breaks out of the guitar lead back into rhythm gets me every time.
2. Lady Marmalade (the new version)
This was always a favorite tune of mine.. just fun stuff from back in the day... I initially didn't think much of the remake and didn't really listen to it but they were performing on some TV show so I watched... and as it passed from Lil Kim to Mya, back to Lil Kim which was about normally the time I tuned out... I remembered there was a key change... so I hung in there and Christina Aguilera takes the key change up.... WOW.. I get shivers now every time I hear it. She defiantly out Labelle'd Patty on this one.
3. Sultans of Swing (Live version) by Dire Straits.
The radio edit is just missing something. The whole lead is this build up... and a couple of riffs that tease what's to come.. then those final riffs of the lead.. just grab me.
4. You Oughta Know - Alanis Morissette
What can I say. The lyrics cut like a knife and I'm glad I never dated anyone who could speak their emotions that clearly. |

Location: Ireland | If you are describe great personal moments in music and the memories they bring back, and the influence they've had on you then -
1. First time I heard Vincent by Don McLean. As a teenager, the song and later McLean (after listening to the entire American Pie album) himself was the reason I wanted to play the guitar, wanted to able to play something that beautiful. He plays here in a few weeks - looking forward to it.
2. First time I mistakenly put James Taylor's Gorrila into the car stereo on a long distance drive and played and replayed it for the entire 5 hours journey.
3. Hearing 'Like a Hurricane' live in Dublin. |

Listened to it's silliness for a long time. Since then I have never heard it referenced, ever! I thought perhaps I was the only person who ever heard of them. Wouldn't say it ever gave me chills but thanks for the memory.
