I just noticed Kaki King's signature guitar is now listed on the Adamas website. It's a mid-depth with a whopping 1 7/8" nutwidth, and it's not blue.

Kaki played at the "Sunset Sounds" music festival at the River Stage just across the river from me tonight.

I only realised on Tuesday but the tickets were all sold out.

But I LOVE the 1 7/8ths nut! I have hands like meathooks, and that works quite nicely.

I'm sure that twenty-something Kaki is devastated that her guitar doesn't appeal to a bunch of boring fat old geezers.

Yes, though not by US standards.

Saying someone weighs 15 stones does not make me think thin (even tho on someone 6'3" that would probably be about average).

By US standards, I'm starving. I managed to keep up with the US average by gaining at least 5 pounds (that's a measure of weight, not money) over the holidays.

I gained five pounds myself, but it could be the new 1187 SSB that has been slung around my neck since it arrived two weeks ago.

Perfect! I was seeing it as clouds, a little too soft and feminine. But brass knuckles - yeah, I want one.

So the consensus seems to be that it's a guitar for violent mechanics with big hands.

Does anyone here have callouses anywhere other than their fingertips?

Or for pretty, petite 20-year old female singer/ songwriters....either one.

I'm guessing that this guitar will be made on an "as required" basis, meaning that your local GC ain't likely to have one hanging on the wall. So I would suspect that you could pretty easily order it to your required dimensions (bowl, nut) with too much hastle, but better check with Al about that.

I'm disappointed that it is a mid-bowl with 1 7/8 nut. It could be that Kaki plays such an instrument, I don't know. She plays a lot of extreme low tunings for which the deeper bowl is better suited.

My girls both loved Kaki's guitar in real life, and I think that the epi styling is intended to be a bit girly or rebellious from the standard epis. Us old fat guys may not be drawn to the styling, but the target audience in this household approves.

Kaki King is a young lady that is known for her somewhat unconventional style of playing. She has her critics, but I enjoy a lot of her music.
