Has anyone seen the beautiful limited 2010 Elite model? I just ran into it at Sweetwater. Looks like they have 3 of the 50 made. Beautiful wood binding but it is rather expensive for on Elite.

Oh yeah, I likealot! Super nice looker. A carved bridge and TRC would really set it off...

If anyone is interested, get in touch with Al first!

Wow!!

That is a modern incarnation of a 1537. Wish I had the bucks. 50 people are going to be very very happy.

And not a word about it on Ovation's webpage....

I really like the set of features on this model. Ought to be a really good one. Nice price for what it is. I particularly like the selection of the woods and how they're used.

Very classy. I wonder how close the construction is to the 1537. Does Al have these for sale?

Al announced this with a list of new models on December 14.
I'm not much for natural finishes, but I'm with Bobbo on the choice of woods.

I'm not sure this is really that expensive for an elite. If you go to MF.com, the lx elite has an asking price of $1749, and Sweetwater is asking $1999 for this one (the same asking price as a custom elite). I think this one has the adirondack top, correct? (isn't that usually 500-1000 more on just about any guitar?) I like the binding. What are the diamonds on the fingerboard made of? Ovation should have this baby on the site with many details. Looks great! I was hoping the Fender people would step up in the marketing area to support Ovations.

It's a wonderful guitar.
Do you know the width of the neck??
It seems to be a narrow neck.

WOW. A cutaway elite with OP Pro Studio !!!

Actually the detail work on this one does look pretty nice. The multi wood body binding looks similar to the FD14.

Nice looking guitar.

Natural Adirondack Spruce top, scalloped bracing, should be a fabulous sounding guitar! Very nice looking guitar.

Hope to see this one at NAMM. This is the first guitar that Ovation has put out in several years (that's not a custom order) that has really gotten my pulse moving.

As a side note on the bracing, everybody here knows that I'm a big A bracing fan. But last year, Bobbo and I compared his 07C with my 87C. His is X braced with a contour bowl, mine is A braced with a deep bowl. There was not as much difference as you would think between the sounds.

Bet this new Elite sounds really good with the deep contour bowl. And the adirondack (red) spruce top should give it a crisp sound (the tops of the best Martins are built with this wood).

I said earlier that this guitar makes me think of a modern version of the 1537 (which I took out and played last night -- still love that guitar). It's the great top, the walnut fingerboard and binding, the wood heel cap and the wood inlays (cherry).

I seriously wish I had the money. If I didn't have good guitars now, this would be the one I'd put on plastic to keep forever (and blow away all the Taylor owners).....

I'm very impressed with this design.

Maybe this is what they'll do, make a 60pc limited run, rather than 1000pc collector series.

I didn't realize the Adirondack Spruce provided a tonal upgrade (learned something new today). This guitar sure is gorgeous. This is a bad time of year to lust for a pricey (for my budget) but I'm lusting anyway dammit!

I tried to search for Al's Dec 14th message where he announced 2010 models but came up empty handed? Is there a way to search for "Alpep" messages?

I searched for "2010" and it linked to a December 15 post, but not to the "Ovation new for 2010" title of Al's post.
If I remembered how to do a link, I'd do it.

If Al has any, the would probably be SN 1,2,&3.

Nice looking guitar, but there's no more room in the man cave for another one and I am pretty happy with what I currently have.(With the exception of a wood top Adamas of course - And we know that aint' happening in the near future)

They should offer it with a standard roundback option. Alot of players (me included) can't stand that contoured thing.
