Location: Brisbane Australia | I ended up with a supposedly mint 82 Collectors from a seller in Rapid Springs SD.
Seeing it was SD I contacted our Alison(Canterbury Strings) to find out how far she was from him and could I get the guitar sent to her.
She replied it was 50 miles and she would happily collect it for me.
I sent her the sellers details and it turns out they are friends, not only that but she knew and had dealings with the previous owner as well.
It is a small world and you have to love this place.

Location: Rego Park, NY, | Twenty six years ago my wife Pearl is taking the subway to the city.I didn't know her at that time. It was four years before I met her. She bumps into a co-worker named Kit at a station. Kit asks my wife for directions for a house in Rego Park. She points her in the right direction. Kit was on her way to a bridal shower for my sister Julie at my parent's house.
Another time my cousin Holly comes into town from Seatle with her mom. She had made arrangements to meet a friend of hers' that lived close by.
I come home from work and her friend is in the house. Her friend turns out to be a girl that I know from St. John's Univ. |

Location: Hot Springs, S.D. | Yeah, when AJ told me it was in Rapid City I figured I probably knew him. Then when I saw his first name I was certain. This is a small area, and most musicians in the Hills know each other. The coolest part is that he was selling the guitar for a friend whom I also know. HE is more of a collector than a player, so this guitar is truly like new. I'll be going to pick it up (and jam a little with my friend, no doubt) on Sunday. Looking forward to it. I'll bring my camera too.

Location: Newington, CT | True story: I was an exchange student in Paris. I was walking to school at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris, and was a bit early. I decided to duck into a bookstore that I had seen, but never entered, while walking to school. I was checking out the books when the phone rang. The proprietor answered the phone, said a few things, called me over and said, "Is this for you?"
The person, calling from the United States, had tried to dial my HOME number, but mis-dialed and got the bookstore. The bookstore proprietor didn't understand English, and would have hung-up, but he saw a big ol' blonde guy, who looked like an American, perusing his books and decided to take a flyer. It was, indeed, for me. |

As long as we're telling stories like this - When I moved here from Connecticut, I arrived at 8:45 PM. The next morning I went out to explore my new town. I went into a restaurant and a lady at a nearby table smiled and said "Hi". After finishing my meal I wandered into the bookstore and was telling the propriator that I had just moved here from Connecticut. Well, just as I was saying it, the smiling lady from the restaurant walked in and said, "I'M from Connecticut too". We looked at each other for a second and the lightbulb came on. She had been a customer at a restaurant I used to work at, and had lived in the next town over. She and her husband had been living in Hot Springs for four years. Through them I met another couple from a Connecticut town I knew well. Keep in mind that Hot Springs has a population of just over 4,000. What are the odds? |

Location: Rego Park, NY, | Here's another one. When I was in high school there was another Phil Wong. But he spelled his name with 2 l's and has a middle intial J. We were even in the same Biology class. I know that his parent's know my aunt. That's number one. Not so uncommon.
I was pulled out of class and brought to the principal's office. It turns out that they were looking for the other Phil. Number two.
Applying for college they sent the wrong transcipts for each of us to each other's college. Number three.
I was not every good at the dating scene. I probably play guitar better by comparison so that's pretty bad. I have a good friend Linda who I met in my freshman year in college. As It turns out we worked together since 1983. For three years in one hospital and currently today in another.
During this time a friend of mine Sam, called me almost in total shock and some disapointment. Sam wanted to know why I never told hime that I was dating a girl named Nancy. My response was Nancy who? I realized by my friends information that he was actually talking about Linda's cousin. Number four |

That's a great story!
I actually forgot some details that, believe it or not, make it even a tad freakier: The caller was my mother. And she hadn't really mis-dialed, it turned out. She had correctly dialed the INCORRECT home number that I had sent her by mail some weeks before. In sending the number, I had transposed two numbers and had, by accident, sent her the book store's number...a number I had never known. |
