Post-ops sit-rep:

Just another joyful and fulfilling 'O' jam!

First of all, the OFC 'rookie', Bob F. (Retired One) was the victim of 'shock and awe'. I sure hope we answered most of your questions. Welcome aboard Bob!

Second, a grand thanx to our brides/enablers for your support! To Sandy (BluesSailor's bride), sure appreciate ya keeping Patty company and your camera work. To Gwen (Bob F.'s bride), it was truly a pleasure to meet you and hope for many more visits. A special thanx to my bride, Patty, for putting up with me. She commented after everyone departed that "I sure like your friends". I did mildly correct her with "family". She then said "I know...".

As usual, we picked, plucked and grinned. Can't ask for more than that.

Now the Labor Day weekend food schedule was waylaid in that the Boiler Room was closed. :( So much for me bringing a camera... off to Beef's.

Hopefully, all had a good time; for I know I did! I will continue to proselytize that this is the greatest on-line community ever...

Now for a few obligatory pics:

The 'enablers' present... (L to R) Sandy and Patty...

The OFC 'sickies'... (L to R) BluesSailor (seated), Trader Jim, Retired One, yours truly, and darkbarguitar (seated).

... the true victims...

Just as an added bonus, TJ has enabled me to send the 'O'raqi back to Jackie with the appropriate brown case. Yo da man, Jim!

Oh, oh, hold the press... Alison, congrats on your 'new' 1680! < Jim... >

More pics later HERE...

Thanks Johnny, for you and Patty hosting yet another get together. Definitely someone else's turn next time.
It was good to escape without TR selling me something (although Blue's mahogany Martin was singing to me)

Johnny and Patty,

Thanks for a wonderful time. It was great to get together with some old friends and meet some new ones as well. Sorry Darkbar (and TJ), that Martin is staying with me for the time being. Alison, enjoy the 1680. It is a wonderful guitar and it sure was a tough decision to let her pass by. What a great player and that fantastic Adamas sound to boot!

Nest time we'll do it at my place. We're finally all settled in and there is plenty of space for a big crowd.

Enjoyed it!

Until next time (soon),

Brad

Alison,

Thanx for the shirt that matched my USAF hat!

Oh, you can also thank "You can only play one at a time" Sandy.. (and the crowd went WILD!)!

Brad,

TJ was aching after he played it in front of ya. He knew ya weren't lettin' go at that point!

" I will continue to proselytize that this is the greatest on-line community ever..."

It used to be until the flag-wavers and god-botherers turned it into an American only site.
there used to be half-a-dozen French guys, German guys, Poles and a lot more Brits and Aussies posting regularly on here. Then the military arrived for Operation OFC Ethnic Cleanse.
Judging by a lot of recent posts I guess Operation Democrat Cleanse is next to drive out those that haven't already gone.
It used to be about guitars and laughs and international. It used to be the wittiest site since Oscar Wilde got sent down. Now it's a self-help group for the Sarah Palin Fan Club.

Why did this Thread just get turned into someones political/religious "soundboard"?

Muzza, AJ, TAFKAR, dweezil, Flag72, Joe Rotax,
Miguel-BR, Jerome, Koenig Kurt, off the top of my head this Am (My Appoligies to those I missed) I guess you all don't count acording to the above post. ALL from outside the US. and all contributors to the OFC.

Ok back to the Topic. Congrats iffy on sponsoring another great "mini" OFC get together!!! Retired One, Welcome to "Family" :)

Funny how this thread turned. I was just reading the thread "I have an agenda..." and there were posts from Denmark, Ireland, Canada, Italy, Madrid, 2 from Australia, and some from the USA. It seems as if hope for a truly "international" forum is not lost.

American only site?...News to me
If someone is trying to start a fight maybe they should start their own thread instead of hijacking a very positive, complementary/feel-good group of posts like this one

Hiya Schroeder! I miss your pot-stirring. Glad you popped in. Our bar fight quotient has been way too low lately. ;) I raise a pint to you!

Likewise. Miss you Schoe. I'll raise a pint or so to you after I get back from the golf course. To the "sensitive Brit".

Looks like you had a great time. Since my son moved back to Tennessee. I now have a lot of folks I know down there.

Everyone loves Schroeder. He can do no wrong.

And not scared to say it how he sees it.

And reading between the lines, I very much doubt that 'he's back'.

Not knowing this "Schroeder" character and based ONLY on his post above, The key phrase is "He can do no wrong" which leads me to beleive it is ALL about him and HIS opinion. Doesn't matter if he's right or wrong, just what he beleives.

As far as him being back, unless I'm missing something here, let's hope he's not. OMHO

If you meet Schroeder you'd probably love him too. I would take what he says with a grain of salt, yet wouldn't be so blind as to not see the strands of truth woven between the lines.

The "Old Corner Pub" has changed over the years. The landloard is still the same, but the staff has turned over and the menu has gone through some revisions. New patrons at the bar hail it as the best new place they've ever found. The old regulars cringe and long for the good old days. Drive-bys by some of the old folks offer a few infrequent glimpses into why many of us came here in the first place.

Yes, some members have left. The French guys have their own forum, that's cool. I'm sure some folks are put off by the patriotism and worshipping. Other are probably put off by the sexual innuendos and language. Whatever.

Who was it that said they'd never want to be a member of any club that would hav them as a member ...
