This is the "Big Weekend" for our town, with a three day Harvest Festival, where we have a parade, fair, talent contest a three days of music at the new performing arts pavilion. I have to get everything set up and ready for that, and I'll also be managing the sound and lights for the events. O% The whole "lighting thing" is completely new to me and there's no one in the area with experience in it, SO ... once again, I get to learn something new. This is also the day my son and daughter-in-law leave for deployment and leave their babies with us for the next 7 months.

Going down the shore for the last time this season.

Surfing (if the water and weather cooperate, right now rough surf and rips are being forecasted)

Playing guitar out on the porch

Maybe one or two last walks on the boards

...and simply relaxing.

Then cleaning and packing up Sunday night, hitting the road early Monday to beat the traffic.

We're going to an acoustic jam and BBQ on Saturday. Burgers and chips are on the menu. It should be fun except for being in a no-alcohol park.

Going up to the cabin. Boat ride, if it starts, and pull it out of the lake, probably for the season. Finish a little project, cut some wood and get back in time for SWMBO to go to work Sunday evening.

My weekend isn't nearly as exciting as others. Mine is the same as any weekend...working. Monday is my usual day off so nothing different there either---sleep in and eat whatever I happens to have on hand.

If the weather holds off*, Monday I will be going to "Hands Across The Bridge" and "Oxfest"...
A bunch of drug addicts all in one place Not committing crimes and getting busted.
We will occupy the I-5 Interstate Bridge at noon, then gather in Vancouver, WA for a concert and BBQ.

Compilation of News clips from previous years... YouTube

Oxfest 2007

Oxfest 2008

BTW-- I don't go just to see the bands, and these are the only bands with YT clips...
(There are usually a bunch of bands, about an hour apiece)
I go to see how my 'Clean' Brothers & Sisters are doing and support them in Recovery.

Going to Valparaiso Indiana to watch my son run his first cross country meet of the collge season and then heading back up the Michigans UP to hike the trail at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. About 35 miles in 3 days. Wish me luck! A lot to pack into 4 days!

Well, take-up space! :p

BTW-- The bridge is over 3,500 ft (1km) long, and we fill it up! Just down one sidewalk tho...

When we all stop to hold hands, we usually fill the bridge from end-to-end, shoulder-to-shoulder.

Air show as I'm 5 minutes from the lake and can walk down there.

They been ripping around all day practising and come in pretty low over my place - the jets sound great.

Going to run the store all week-end. Monday, after I close I'll be going to a birthday party with lots of musicians attending. Not sure which guitar I'll be bringing yet, but if music is what's on the menu, I'm happy.

Since we'll be camping (sorry, RVing. I've been in enough tents in my life...), The wife takes care of the menu. Looking forward to seeing Iffy, Blues, Darkbar, and maybe a new face. Philly cheese steaks at the Boiler Room, Playing guitar, cooking out, swimming, drinking, etc... Can't wait. We'll be cutting out of here tomorrow early. Yeah!
