Hello to all OFC-members!

My name is Meuti and I just want to say Hi to everyone here

I am 33yo and I live in Germany. For like 10 years (or so) I own(ed) an Ovation Folklore 1614 built in 1981, always loved it but never really dived deep into the ovationsea, until I started to get curious about the history of my guitar a few weeks ago. Google didn't bring up too much information, but it led me to ovationgallery.com, where I got into contact with Dave.

I sent him an email with some photos of my Folklore and he really gave me a lot infos about it (especially interessting was that I am one of the "idiots" that use nylons on the folklore xD - however I still think it's fine). After having all the interesting news by Dave, my old ovation-love came back at full pace and it was just natural to find the OFC.

The last weeks I spent reading in the forums. I started to get really really interested in the FD14, which was like a "holy grail" for me. Knowing that there are only 50 (or 52) of them worldwide I thought it would always be just a dream to have one for myself.

And then by pure luck I found a FD14 on Ebay Germany... No info there that it's a very rare instrument. Whew... I was starting to get crazy at this moment. I wanted this guitar as it seemed to be a chance-of-a-lifetime for me. To make it short now - tonight I placed the winning bid of 1266 Euros (which is around 1800 Dollar). It's a whole lotta money and I didn't really expect it to go up that high but still I was eager to pay maximum 1500 Euro.

Well.. I won, I am happy, I will have to stay at home for the next three months xD

The Fud will be sent to me this week and I am really anxious to find out if all the good words I heard about it here at the OFC will be true. As soon as I have it I will probably have to sell my good ole 1614 unless I find another way to buy me some food :D

Ok... that was my little story of how I made it to the OFC ;)

It feels good to be here!

Many regards and see you soon in some other posts!

Meuti

First, welcome to the asylum. You don't have to be crazy about Ovations to be here... but it helps.

Pics would be nice... We LIKE pics!

Welcome. Why not put some steel strings on your Folklore and compare it to the FD14 when it comes? There should be some distinct differences. Then if you decide to sell the Folklore, you'll already have the correct strings on it.

I will put steel strings on. I wanted to do that anyways after Dave told me about it, but the strings were just freshly changed at that time. Now of course is the perfect moment to try it out and compare the folklore with the deluxe.

Most of my Ancesters left their homelands at sword point or while ducking for cover so the records are scarce.

The 1614 is still with you, right ? Re-strang it with steel strings and let your ears feel the difference with the nylon ones in terms of tone and playability ;)

.... it has been mentioned many time here (right Johnny) that "waiting" is the most difficult part .. :D .. and we, from the other side of the pond know what it really means when "the perfect" git (the last one in order of time) is flying over the ocean !!

And I was there a few weeks before that. Played Karl's (Charlie Ramon's) #47RI in Rothenburg. You need to find him and Koenig Kurt.
Also, while you wait you could do a little searching on the site and read some of the posts in the archives. If you really get desparate you could learn to post pictures. I've never gone that far.

Mh... waiting really is the most difficult part... Everything I could do here seems so senseless... I've played the 1614 more today than the whole last week but it doesn't really help ^^

Hi Meuti,

The FD 14 should have arrived by now... Maybe you just can´t stop playing to write a post? I hope they don´t let you wait...

Hey Chris! Unfortunately it is not here yet... I tried everything to make them ship the baby as soon as possible, but it didn't work out. They were actually going to send it yesterday via DHL but then the driver said he can't take it (too big - Sperrgut ;) ) . So now they'll ship it with DPD today and I'm gonna have to wait until monday to play it :(
