I know it takes awhile to get everyone together on times and dates so I thought I'd bring this up early. I'd love to have a gathering here NEXT summer. Late June or early July would probably be best weather-wise, but whenevr you all decide you can come, I'd love to have you. The shop is a great place to jam, and there is also a beautiful national park five miles up the road. As most of you know, there's not a lot of good food here, but if I have had to suffer for the last five years, I guess you guys can muddle through for a few days! Let me know.

I'm interested, if that summer doesn't get booked with other things. We've been wanting to get back to the Black Hills since we honeymooned there in 1977.
I'll start working on a 2011 gathering in Killington, Vermont.

The Black Hills are a beautiful place, only been there once, but would love to go back. From Mt. Rushmore to Lake Pectola, Deadwood to Bella Fouche, and Needles Highway, there are so many awesome things to see and do. But getting a chance to jam with all you great folks would be the best of all. Hmmmmm....
you got me thinking about next years vacation already ! If you go you gotta see the Columbian Mammoth dig in Hot Springs, I guess that's down toward your neck of the woods CS (yes) ?

Yes it is. As a matter of fact, I play for their fundraising event every year. It is just a short drive from the shop, maybe a mile and a quarter.

The rally is in August, but bikes are always welcomed. You won't be able to bring your guitar that way, but I've got a few to spare. ;)

I like the shrink wrapped version he had heading back from Miles' place better. I didn't get a picture, though.

Well this might be interesting.
Pam & I talked about going out that way for vacation this summer but because of the way things are so shakey here in Michigan we are going to stay closer to home this year.
But I have all the tourist info in my desk. If things start to look even just a little better, 2010 just might fit in quite well.

Geez gang. With the economy so bad, why don't you ALL have a cheap holiday here in Australia. Your US dollars will buy over AUD$1.50 down here...

That is a beautiful area. I spent a few days camping and hiking in the Black Hills about 15 years ago and loved it. It's too early to say whether I could make it, but it's definitely something to put on my calendar of try-to-do. Thanks so much for the offer, Ali.

Oz is on my bucket list, and has been ever since I started scuba diving. Throughout the decade+ I was an instructor & led trips all over the Caribbean I tried to organize a group trip to Oz, but never quite got enough people to commit to make it happen.

The exchange rate is very favorable once we get there, but the problem for us right-coasters is the airfare. Still, one day...

We do a camping vacation every June. We can put the Black Hills on the list next year.

Where'd all these pics come from? I'll try to get a pic snapped of the really big scoot with a guitar this weekend. Here's how you carry guitars for the whole band . . .

That would be so cool, but alas, quite a bit more driving than we could manage to fit in a vacation.

BTW Alison, did you know if you google map Hot Springs and go to the street view the only street imaged is River Street and there you can find a picture of your shop? Right next to the Sign shop.

This is sounding good. Because this is a tourist area, there are plenty of motels and campgrounds. If we can get an idea of how many are coming we can get a good group rate. And we can take over the Flatiron on the weekend. They have a beautiful outdoor stage, decent food (for around here)a beer and wine license, and LOUSEY coffee. :p And it is only half a block from the shop. It will be SO COOL to see you all here, but I warn you, you may never want to leave!
