So many here on the OFC have shared their--written, recorded, filmed--original music featuring guitar, voice(s), band etc. I propose a thread that gathers our "shining moments". Post (pr re-post) a piece you are really proud of, that represents what you're "all about" (I'll chime in, as soon as I make up my mind

This is a tune inspired after seeing BB King play live. The vocals are sung by my daughter Sara. No Ovation content but the main guitar is a Hamer Newport.

This is the title track from my first cd called Cry For Help. Recorded with my UKll, and 95 6868 Elite, and my Ovation 12 string. This song is really about me, but I tried to write it in a way that anyone feeling alone in life, depressed, in pain, could find their place in the song. http://www.reverbnation.com/kitmann/song/10386974-cry-for-help

The first song that plays automatically is one of my favorites.  Called Latter-Day Outlaw.

This recording is almost 10 years old now. Where does the time go? Some friends and I were performing for the Savannah Folk Music Society. We were amateurs at best, but had a blast all the same. The other instrumentalist always insisted including some original material in our sets, and this evening we went with one of mine.

I like songs that tell stories or serve as allegories/metaphors, so this one suits me fine. It's still one of my favorites when I consider all I've written, musically or otherwise. Eventually, it made it onto one of the OFC CD's, but here it is for those of you who never got to get one of those. I also left the introduction that was clipped for the CD. Hope you all like it.

Small Boat

And in the interest of useless trivia, the avatar I use is cropped from a sketch done while we were performing in that venue, possibly even that very night. Here's the complete image; Patchwork enjoying simpler times.

Great stuff from everyone, lots to be proud of people! I'm proud of this one, I'm still a learner and have produced it all myself

I hate this stupid song, I hate the recording quality, I hate the synthetic drums and bass, ....pretty much hate everything about it.
BUT, it is the 1st song I ever wrote and recorded on my little TASCAM, so for that I am proud. I am just around the corner from recording several (what I think are actually pretty good) original songs. More my acoustic style than this pop monstrosity.

I'm not much of a songwriter, but more of a performing monkey. In Chasen Chantz, I provide some textures and shades with my electric guitar (Chasen plays acoustic). He writes the main musical lines and words, and I do most the arranging.

I did like the solo I did for this one. Feel free to listen to the whole thing (I sing backups too), but the most important part is MY SOLO of course (about 4 minutes in).

It's a cool song to end sets with... leave on a high note, right? COMPLICATED

Damon, first brother that is fine *** song there. And then you enter with the lead and I was blown away. Had a Styx/Damn Yankees feel to it. After listening to everyones songs, the amount of talent just keeps me in awe!!! Do you think an OFC cd will ever be made again? To all of you that posted songs....Wow!!!!!!

I've wondered that myself the last several years. But it's REALLY a tall order for someone to pick up on a "volunteer" basis.

I only did the calendar, and it took WAY more effort/time/etc. than I thought it would. Looking at what's entailed in producing a CD, with recordings from a wide variety of conditions/equipment/pre-mixing/etc., my brain just boggles that it's ever been done at all! Of course, I'm looking up at this as my recording/mixing skills are limited at best. I can play and sing a bit, but I'm certain that mixing down a couple dozen tracks into a balanced compilation is well beyond my abilities.

Still, after saying all that, I have to admit I would love it if someone actually did it.

Now you made me feel bad for liking it and ashamed that I was impressed. If you thought that sucked, come up here and record me.

You're welcome. Anytime you're fishing for some positive reinforcement like "that didn't suck too bad," just ask and I'll be happy to oblige.

This was on one of the OFC discs. It's got my OFC1 Slothead and the mahogany Viper featured.
