The shiny bowls went to textured bowls somewhere around serial # B-500, so given the serial number of the guitar in question, the textured bowl would probably be original.

Tuners (Kluson) looks like those of a Balladeer and not of a Deluxe Balladeer. Transition model.... ?

Yup, transition model. That would be my guess. Early 69? Might be one of the very first textured bowls......

I have one like that but mine has the winged bridge. Before or after this one? Mine is an F- series.

jay the bridge is 5 point but it looks like walnut doesn't it?

It may have popped off long ago and was replaced at the factory, albeit with walnut.

No returns or exchanges...
And no photos with Strings on the guitar?
I would save my money and wait for another one.

Geo - It looks to be just that, although the viewing angle isnt the best.

Bobo - The winged bridges came right after the 5 pt bridges and there weren't very many...That bridge has a built in cool factor.

That bridge looks like rosewood and original to me. The factory replacement 5-point bridges are ebony.

I have s/n 698DB with a factory replaced bridge, it is walnut. Looks just like the one in the listing here. The original popped off over 40 years ago and Ovation repaired it. I'm not sure why they used walnut on mine.

My #485 came with a 5 pt bridge that the previous owner had secured from Ovation, when he wanted to re-replace  the incorrect bridge that had replaced the original 5pt. I have laid it next to the original one on 1911. It certainly has a higher profile...which might be due to the 67 5pt being handmade?

I had thought that maybe Ovation had sent him extra stock from the k1111 RI, but in comparing that to the picture I have from it, that bridge...that one seems more walnutty.

Back in 2009 I sent my BD to MS for a neck reset and top refinish. They put on a new rosewood 5 points bridge, not ebony stained as the original, but rosewood however.

They were using ebony for the replacement 5 pointers for a while. Then when they came out with the reissue Josh Whites and Balladeers, they started doing the 5 pointers in rosewood. I have one on my rebuilt Legend.

I asked the seller to send me some pics of the inside of the bowl. It's hard to tell from the pics because they're a little blurry, but it looks like this may be one of the last of the 1st gen bowls and probably one of the first of the textured bowls.

Note that the area around the neck block looks to me like it has an abscence of fabric weave.

The seller also posted a new pic of the inside of the bowl to the thread. I'm posting it last.=

At what point did they quit stamping the matching SN on the necks?

I'm not sure.

But, in looking at thisa little closer, I'm thinking it might be one of the first of the 2nd gen bowl models after all.

First, the neck block is a little more crude that what yours look like. Also this one has the extra layer(s) of glass reinforcement applied to the tail block area. (See: 1111 G-552 #1)

You know, I"m kinda wondering if some of you need to get a life......

From the Urban Dictionary:

1. Get a life

Phrase used by insecure xenophobes as a response to someone with different hobbies, interests or attitudes to themselves. These people often think they have a lot of friends, but usually nobody really cares for them.

2. Get a life

The ultimate insult for insecure people who have nothing better to say. people who use this "diss" have no life themselves. they usually say this to feel better about their own sad lives by criticizing someone else's "life"

3. Get a life

A phrase retards say to other people who they don't know anything about. It's just a dumb phrase to say because they can't think of anything else but just want your attention. The truth is the people who tell others to 'get a life' are the ones lacking the life.

Etc...
