Its like he sings a bit off key and it seems to perfectly blend into all of the music he plays. This is one of my favorites.GWB keyhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jNN-NSHZ6w

I've been flattop jammin' with an ol' buddy who's a big America fan, and I really can't take 'em myself, except for maybe "Sister Golden Hair". Otherwise, some of the worst lyrics of all time IMO. Oops, sorry! This was a Neil Young thread.

I wish I still had one, but only to hit a few of the high notes in a couple songs I can't do anymore. Singing a whole song in falsetto, or a whole career of falsetto songs is just too much for me. It's like playing an instrument in a range that it wasn't made to play. Like the BeeGees, I just don't get it.

I will admit that Neil is not the greatest singer in the world, but at times in his career, his writing has been incredible. That said, he also has put out a lot of crap, but every 3rd or 4th album is still very good. When I was a kid, my father (who hated NY) scraped together the money to take me to see Neil at Madison Square Garden. We were not poor, but I know that it was hard for my father to come up with that kind of money, and to sit through a show that he didn't even want to see. (He had taken me to see Rush the year before). Anyway, over the years, my dad has become a pretty big Neil Young fan himself, largely due to my brainwashing. A few years back, Neil was playing here in Jersey and I surprised my dad with a pair of great seats to the show. As it turned out, Neil played and sang great, and did most of the stuff that my dad knew and liked. We both had a great time. A few years later, I took him to see CSNY at the Garden in nearly identical seats to the ones he had bought me back in 1982. Now that I'm a dad, I'm hoping that one day my daughter will look back at times that she and I had the same way at look back at these times. I'm gonna do my best to be as good of a father as mine was (and still is).
