So I have the opportunity to purchase an Ovation 1996 Book Elite that is in immaculate condition. The seller is asking $1000 for her. Can I get some opionons on the selling price? I think that is a very good deal but I am not sure.

Thank you for all feedback!

I haven't seen one for a long time, but I'd jump on that if I could.

$1k is a steal for one of the very best models ever to come out of New Hartford. Quite possibly the best cutaway Elite ever.

It's a really good guitar no doubt, but I never cared for the way they finished the neck and headstock. Personal preference.

As to the best cutaway Elite --- 87 Collectors.

Personal preference.........

Done! I bought her. I hit the jackpot! She is in near mint condition. I purchased her from the original owner and he also had the original sales receipt. Better yet, he gave me "The Book" too that looks brand new and it is signed on the inside cover.

Yea. I feel like it is my birthday and X-Mas all rolled up into one! I will post some pics in just a bit. The Book is signed on the inside cover and it is hard to make out but it looks like it was signed by Kaman himself or possibly his son. I will take some photos of that too.

Wow! I bet I know why he gave you the book. That's probably Beal's signature and everyone knows that ruins the value. Is it the hardcover or softcover version?

The guy I purchased from felt the book belonged with the guitar. When he purchased the guitar new the book was part of the sale. It is hard to tell for sure by my untrained eye but it looks like it might read Bill Kaman.

I think that's all correct. I was just kidding about Bill's signature reducing the value. At least I didn't use my other old lame joke about how he got his hand through those little sound holes to sign all those labels.

That is Beal's signature... CWKaman II or 2, or both kinda combined.

And that is an awfully Purdy guitar.

Told ya! Beal is consistent. When the pics came up I was staring into the sound hole, trying to see the signature and then remembered you were talking about the signature on the book. One of the hard bound copies, too. You really scored.
