You have any??

One for me is that I always.. always.. play an intentionally fouled up chord with some dead strings or a fret buzz as the very last sound before I put a guitar away. Another one is.. well.. maybe later.

So I'm a weird duck. Certainly no big news there. I'm just curious if there are any others who'd care to divulge their own instrument superstitions/traditions.

never let a muslum terrorist or a goat ever play your guitar. They will kill the strings.

Never take the "G" string off your guitar and give it to your girlfriend/spouse and assume that is what she wanted for her birthday.

After doing that, I would be afraid that she would use that "G" for a Garrote!! Never close both eyes at one time after making that doozie of a mistake! LOL!!!

You guys are Hilarious!!! I Love It!!!
I think the only reason that I am not superstitious, is because I never remember what I do from one time to the next, on any given thing. It makes it hard to re-do any one thing time after time.

I never play a guitar topless after OMA has played it topless. Or bottomless. Or in spandex, latex, or fake fur.

I avoid guitars that Bob Gee Darkbar has played while wearing "that shirt". I'd also be afraid of any guitar that was buffed using "that shirt" as a polishing cloth.

I don't know of any "superstitions" other than Not letting strangers play my guitar.
That's not really a superstition...
If you come up to me outta nowhere and ask to play my guitar, you are an asshole.
If you want to play other people's guitars, go to Guitar Center.

Superstitions? No. Traditions, yes. There's one particular song which is the first I play on a newly acquired guitar, and the last song I play on it when I sell it to a new owner. Weird? Yup.

I just play. No time for that stuff! But I do knock three times on the side of an airplane as I leave the jetway and board the plane. It works great cause I haven't crashed yet!! Did it twice more today!

@Arthur-- "Not letting strangers play my guitar."

I can go with that, too., Arthur. Musical instruments can definitely have a personal boundary line. In fact, if a 'total stranger' is THAT close to my guitar I would probably be concerned by how/why they got that close to it in the first place.

That's a good one, FlySig. Doesn't seem weird to me. I do the same thing with new computers since way back in the 80's. The VERY first thing I do with a new computer is type out the full first verse to Bennie and the Jets, then keep it on there for the life of the machine. Where that superstition came from I do not remember.. lol.. but I have done it a few dozen times.

Like you needed that blue band to tell whose wine glass that was. You barely let go of it long enough to play.

I think you get the most points for using it as a slide without spilling. Red is good, I like a good Cabernet.

A slide on a UKII?

Preposterous! Who would do such a thing?

Damon.. that was fun to watch, no doubt.. but I'm still with Cavalier.. hoping for a wine glass slide with no spillage. Heck, even with spillage would be fine as far as I'm concerned. Anyway, good show.. thanks for posting.
