Location: Boise, Idaho		It's too dark for nutmeg, so I looked up the ad with Beal's smiling face in it. He must have been in a dark mood that year, because "black is the theme" and the top was ebony stained spruce.

The only reason I let it go was that I found a matching white 1868 that looked so nice with the white 1858.

I didn't have room for 2 SSB Elites... Miss it though.

Location: Boise, Idaho		I've never played Beal's nor anyone else's 84 Collector and I'm not a big fan of the SSBs. I like the extra bass of the deep bowls. The 2 SSBs I had, an 83 Collector and a Custom Balladeer, were pretty heavily played and sounded very good, but still a little thin on the bass. I tend to prefer the single soundhole sound over the multi-hole sound.

Location: 6 String Ranch		Mine is a natural, the prototype. Marketing chose the black stain on straight grain, not bear claw, so that's what was made. Since the other one was never going to be used I thought it only right to give it a home. I wanted the transparent black finish for the model. Grestch had just come out with the Super Chet and they came in trans orange and black.
