Can anyone tell me anything about this beast? What model is it? When were they made? Where were they made? What do they sound like?

I'm more the bottom feeder type and know little about Ovations...when you get right down to it...
but I'd consider it a heck of a bargain up to....
$250Cdn...$275Aus.
Can anyone in 'your old home town' look at the guitar for you?
(I don't get the discription about not being very loud. A deep bowl guitar, set up properly, should just boom!....?cracked or unglued ribs?)
I bought my Custom Balladeer new in ...um 1975? (good decade!) and it's still my favourite, play-it-first guitar. (Of course, I only have 5 so it's not that big a choice....) |

Location: Sunshine State, Australia | I used to own a 1111. It wasn't a jumbo, but a normally proportioned O.
The photo must be an optical illusion, coz the neck seems really short in relation to the body.
I'll get my mate in Wollongong to go check it out and get back to you.
I hardly ever go to the sell/trade forum, for obvious reasons. |

Location: Sunshine State, Australia | I did my electrical apprenticeship at what used to be AIS in Port Kembla, affectionately known as 'the steel works'. I wasn't in one area for more than a year, except the coke ovens - I was in that hell hole for 2 years.
Our similarities are spooky, Oz.
And no, I had no intention of bidding. If it was something special, like a real JUMBO (if they existed) I may have been interested. I still haven't told SWMBO about my last Ovation purchase. I'm well known on this forum for my fear of my 'other half'.

Location: Nashville TN. | I actually wondered why they never attemped a super jumbo with top dementions similar to Gibsons SJ-200.
A lot of those Gibsons are disappointing in thier
in sound. I was shocked how many of those turn up used. I would think deep countour with a massive top would really really blow other Jumbos out of the water. |

The engineering and development costs to come up with the molds for the bowl would be huge. I think I heard during a factory tour a couple of years back that the costs for new molds are into six figures. |

The world needs more upright bass and an Ovation
would likely be less expensive than MOST current options, be louder and tougher, and be lighter.
Imagine, a world full of slap bass in the dance hall! Bowed bass on the ballads....I think I'm gonna weep, just a little. It's too beautiful. |
