It seems that people who have either never played them when they had them, or have been given them by someone, and have no concept of the value of what they have. My 1537 was originally purchased by a man who bought it for his wife to learn how to play guitar, she never caught the bug, so it sat for 20 years, then he gave it away to a friend when they moved, the guy put it on ebay with no reserve, and I scooped it.

Then $200 for my other Ultra GS, $225 for my Custom Balladeer etc. I missed that 1537 that Stephen bought by about 10 seconds. My Matrix was $245 new back in 1977. I probably didn't know any better back then and paid full retail.

I probably would have changed plans and made sure I got there if I could bring back my OFC guitar. another topic. Do you think the OFC guitars will be on display/delivered at the tour?? If it's ready, maybe Waskel could bring it back to Portland and I can pick it up there. I'm sure he won't play it before I do.

He laughed at Ovation till he played it....then he was almost in tears telling how he had to have it. It is now part of his "will never sell" collection.

Joined: February 2004 Posts: 548 Location: Up North | now I'm getting confused? Is the KOALA now being referred to as the OFC guitar as well? (I thought that moniker was reserved for the 12 - Adamas 12 fret slothead, blue burst, electronic beasts)?

Re the OFC guitar (aka "KOALA"), .... The OFC guitar is that Adamas thing Al posted in some thread. Blue burst carbon top, fancy scroll work everywhere, 6 string, 14 frets to the body, etc. Not to be confused with Al's 12 string UTE custom either. Which is another animal altogether. Just to clarify -- _____ gh1
