Well everyone, after tomorrow evening I will no longer be Hizzoner. As is the life in politics, I was "unelected" Saturday. So, now I need to think of another catchy name. I thought about "Wuzhonner" or "Wuzhizzoner" something like that.

You might prefer to think of it as 'held in reserve.' My condolences.

Wa-ay back in my newsguy days, we liked to go to the losers parties after elections. Just as much liquor, fewer people, and they're there to DRINK.

The Artist Formerly Known as Hizzoner.

Craig I thought you mentioned a long while back that you didn't think you'd be standing again. What changed your mind? Was that 2 or 3 terms you served?

Please don't tell us the new mayor plays a Taylor.

So you'll be in Ct for the Tour right?

And you'll always be Hizzoner round here.

Look on the bright side.

An era has ended in Converse, TX. It'll never be the same. Maybe this is just a way for you to move to the state house.

How about Unindicted? That'd be a rarity amongst you politicos. :)

Hey Craig, Good to hear from your. Now that you have all of this free time, I think you should be given moderator privileges, and keep the moniker. You can be Mayor of our little community. I think we already have a Judge and a Sheriff. Or you could change your name to "justanotheridiot"

From Wikipedia:
"Idiot" was originally created to refer to people who were overly concerned with their own self-interest and ignored the needs of the community. Declining to take part in public life, such as (semi-)democratic government :D :p :D :p

Craig,
You'll always be Hizzoner as far as I'm concerned. That is because you are the first member that I met in person at the hotel on my first tour.

How about Hezoffer? :)

At any rate congratulations! You can have your life back! When my wife finished her two year sentence as mayor here we were both *very* happy. She had run because she wanted to get our new sewer system financed & construction begun & she did. This town needed a new sewer really bad or we were going to be in deep, uhh, trouble. She wouldn't run again & I wouldn't have let her even if she'd wanted to. What a miserable, thankless, 24-7, crappy paying (zip in her case), PITA of a job. I suggest you get your favorite O & a fishing pole & spend a few weeks playing your guitar while you're waiting for a bite. It won't be long before you realize you don't have to concern yourself with the local bickering & general BS you've been dealing with. If you didn't have at least 2 or 3 total A-holes you had to deal with regularly as mayor I'd be amazed. My wife sure did & this is a small town of less that 1,000. Now somebody else can deal with 'em! HA! You can't be very far from some big ol' Texas largemouth bass. Don't forget the Garden Hackle.

Wow. Such good suggestions. Um, I have been called a lot worse than "idiot" Fred. Nils: PITA yes, Pay ZERO. And it was the PITAs who got me unelected. BUT ... I will have my life back. Schroeder: He doesn't play music at all, and I should have stopped with four terms.

BTW... still Hizzoner until about 7:15 this evening.

Me too. Early and often.
Craig, time to follow in the steps of those who've gone before you (be sure to wipe your shoes before you come back in the house).
Get that book deal, line up those $500k lectures and before you know it you'll be appointed ambassador to the Duchy of Grand Fenwick and you can sneer at those who called you 'loser'.

Great idea. Forget the bait and hook and you'll have more time for pickin'. :D

Just in case you ever get tempted to get back into elected politics, just remember these immortal words:

"If nominated, I won't run.

If elected I won't serve."

Best--

How about "If you F@ckwits really want me back in office I'll only go if you do every thing I tell you to. (List to be supplied by Cliff)" In the mean time, I'm going to get a life.
All the best to you Craig!
