On the 19th is the OFC gathering and the Ollala Bluegrass Festival - both of which don't hold a lot of excitement for my Wife (I became an over-zealous Ovation Fan later in life!). I need to see if a weekend devoted to what I want to do is the right thing to do. That and what needs to be fixed around the house.

I'm wondering, though, how many people might be up for a breakfast get-together the next morning (Sunday). For me at least it would further justify driving down for part of the evening on Saturday... What do you guys think?

Since a whole bunch of us will be driving at least a little bit to get there, why not make more of a weekend out of it? Mike, I do believe there are Lenny's in OR, but that is actually where Shari's originated, so it might be sacriligious to eat elsewhere.

Might be able to play but the voice (allegedly my strong suit... ) is unavailable at early hours...except for a Leonard Cohenesque bark.

I'm close to the edge now with SWMBO - I also just picked up the EA68 that Dan Schafer had for sale...just too good of a deal and all that... I think that I can fit the 1624, EA68, 1271, 1718, 1881, and the C759LX I custom ordered (assuming I have it by that point) in my car, along with my little Marshall and some pedals. Oh, and bread, of course. :D I guess I'm committed now. If I can't get there until 7:00pm on Saturday, am I going to miss everything anyway? Oh, and BTW, where is everyone staying?

Finally, I get to visit you and play some diverse guitars and get GAS! I feel somewhat successful in my planting the seeds. But it is because of this Website that they grew!

(Holidays involve getting off the plane in Mexico and looking for a place to sleep...or a bus) 7PM Sat? You may have to slam 2 beer so we don't look stupid... or is that ugly?

How far away is the OFC gathering to Rainer? Maybe I can make a side trip. That would be very cool...

Anyway, I'm just over the water near the 'couv (the WA 'couv, not the BC 'couv), so it sounds like it could be fun to join y'all. A few Qs: 1. How do I get the address details? 2. Are you all smokin pickers? Will my feeble strummin make me want to hide in the corner and cry in my beer(s) 3. If I come, what should I bring - apart from the 12Str, I could bring a Behringer Accusonic 1000 (nice but huge 'coffee shop' type amp) and some really cool Ukes. Or should I leave all that at home? 4. Are you PBR or IPA guys? 5. Do these jeans make my butt look big? Cheers, 'veg PS my blues name is 'Crippled Fingers Jefferson' -- which is my excuse for my crap playing

My Mom's 80th birthday party starts at 6 over in Hillsboro. No offense, but I wasn't too worried about not meeting you until I saw the haul of guitars you're bringing. AFG (Ron), Rainier is probably 50 miles from Portland between Portland and Astoria. Anyway, that's too close to miss. If you're flying, you'll be really close to gh1's house if you land at Portland or really, really close to my family if you take a small plane into Hillsboro. See you could have delivered the Ute to me. Fatveg--do an email or private message to gh1 for his address. If you don't get a response, let me know and I'll find it and send it to you. It's on Yamhill, which is just a little on the east side of the river, straight across from downtown. So it's a very central location for the Portland area. I just met Waskel and listened to him play. You won't feel embarassed by your playing once you hear me. I'm a hacker just like my golf game.

It's actually across the river from Longview, and if my memory is correct (motorcycle trip from last summer), you can travel up (or down) I-5, cut off at Longview and cross an very long/tall bridge that will drop you nearly square into Rainier. Then you can either go back to I-5 or simply follow Hwy 30 back into the Portland area. Very close in Alaska terms. And no airplane required from Rainier to Portland....lots of roads. ;-)

The logistics to some of your other questions are not worked out yet, but definately bring your instruments -- i think we'll have enough amps. But if someone pipes up and wants to hear your Behringer Accusonic 1000, well, then bring that too. I'm pretty sure we will represent a broad spectrum of guitar playing abilities, even still, nothing wrong with hiding in the corner and drinking beer ;) I drink both IPA and PBR, but on August afternoons -- probably PBR. No comment on your butt ..... Aug 19th gh1's house starting around 1:00pm (you outta towners travelling long distances, just show up whenever, early is fine, i'll just put you to work :) ) ending -- whenever _____ gh1

If we can get out of here and make the trip to Rainier, I will take a side trip to the gathering. Mark - Yea sure... Like you could have, or would have wanted to wait until then for the UTE. I won't know for another week or so if we are going to be able to go. I'll let you know to add me to the list or not when I know for sure. Take Care All.

I got the model number wrong, it's a Behringer Ultracoustic ACX1000 -- big and heavy, a little noisy but great sounding. Looking forward to seeing you all 'veg
